Services are under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home. BERNARD Paul FLAHIVE was born on Thursday, April 30, 1925 in Lovilia, Iowa, the son of Martin Henry and Marcella Grace (Kearney) FLAHIVE . He died at St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa on Saturday, May 10, 2014.

2 He was 89 years of age. Paul was married to the former Rosemary Anne Zaring on June 22, 1963 in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was employed by John Morrell and Company in Ottumwa, Iowa for some 25 years. After moving to Moline, Illinois, he worked in Production with Case Company, retiring from there in 1987. Paul and Rosemary moved to Broken Arrow in 1994. Paul was a Korean War Veteran of the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge from active service, he spent 20 years in the National Guard, retiring as a Staff Sergeant E6. Paul enjoyed dancing, gardening, traveling and riding on trains. He was a Rosary Guild Member and made thousands of rosary beads.

3 He was a devout man and a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, the American Legion and a past member of the Moose Lodge. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Church of St. Benedict Bell Tower Fund, in memory of Paul, 2200 West Ithica Street, Broken Arrow, OK 74012. He is survived by, Daughter, Jan and husband Tony DeSmet, Broken Arrow, OK Grandson, Todd and wife Leslie DeSmet, Broken Arrow, OK Granddaughter, Lisa DeSmet, Edmond, OK Great Grandsons, Trent and Tyler Sisters, Virgene Starcevic, Albia, IA Kathleen Crall, Albia, IA Shirley, Massman, Centerville, IA Sandra FLAHIVE , DesMoines, IA Carolyn Timmins, DesMoines, IA Mary Margaret Coyne, San Antonio, TX Pat Farneth, Cato, NY Judy Loebig, Austin, TX Brothers, Martin FLAHIVE , Farmers Branch, TX Jim FLAHIVE , Omaha, NE Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary, his parents, Martin and Marcella FLAHIVE .
