2 Living Water. Living water is water that is not stagnant; it is flowing from some source such as a spring or river. Spiritually speaking, Jesus is the source of living water to those who are believers. III. Background In revelation 5, John saw God holding a scroll that was sealed with seven seals. Each time Jesus (the only one worthy to open the seals) opened one of the seals, a corresponding judgment was visited upon the earth. revelation 7 opens with four angels holding back the wind, signaling an interlude between the opening of the sixth and seventh seals, which is where today's text take place. The Great Multitude ( revelation 7:9-10). In this scene, John sees a great multitude of people that could not be counted. These people are of different races, cultures, and languages.

3 However, they have in common: they are all wearing white robes of the redeemed. Laborers of biblical times needed sturdy clothing that Page | 1. would not show dirt quickly, thus eliminating white garments. White garments thus were reserved for special occasions such as religious ceremonies and celebrations (2 Chron. 5:12;. Eccl. 9:8). 2. The Great Choir (vv. 11-12). The Heavenly inhabitants (angels, elders and the four beasts ) who are forever around the throne, are praising God in concert with the great multitude. In response, the heavenly choirs lead out in what is termed a doxology that states seven specific attributes of God: blessing, glory, wisdom, thanksgiving, honour, power, and might. Some scholars state that the seven items in the list would imply that their praise in complete and / or perfect. 3. The Great Promises (vv. 13-17). In this section, one of the elders explains that the crowd in the white robes, are those who have overcome, been cleansed by the blood of the Lamb, and that their sins have been washed away.
