He directed you to teach everything that He had taught from the plan of salvation to the stewardship of life. 2 As we face the great task of our STEWARDSHIP ENRICHMENT program, you will have the opportunity of teaching four (4) stewardship LESSONS to your class. These LESSONS will lay the Biblical foundation for all that is done leading up to Commitment Sunday. On this day, we will all make our three year sacrificial commitments to finance the vision God has given our church. Your effectiveness is vital to our church. As you approach the teaching of these stewardship LESSONS remember that your students will look to you for information; but they need more; they need inspiration. You will be dealing with them in a small group setting. Trust will be high.

They will expect you to answer their questions with truthfulness and integrity. They have a right to expect that you be: PRAYING Prayer is essential! God will prepare your heart and mind. Until you talk to God you have no right to talk to His people in His name. You can do more after you pray; but you can t do more until you pray. PREPARED Preparation is a must! You will be provided with all the material you need. It is up to you to spend the necessary STUDY time to present the truths as God has given them to us. Our Minister or Associate will meet with all teachers to present the lesson and offer guidance. But you must commit the time and talent to STUDY to show yourself workman who needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

STEWARDSHIP ENRICHMENT BIBLE STUDY LESSONS Teacher s supplement Page 2 POSITIVE Optimism is the spark! Enthusiasm for the program and subject is essential. They look to you for a positive attitude and presentation. They do not want your doubts, questions and fears. Doubts cannot inspire faith. You represent Christ and His church. Your challenging, optimistic and positive presentation of the Biblical material will open their hearts and minds to the will of God for them personally as their part of His will for the church. PERSONAL Personalizing brings it home to you and your student! You are not dealing in the abstract but with concrete scriptural truths that must be applied personally.

Let them see how you apply them in your life. Share your testimony. You are doing more than imparting facts; you are seeking transformation of lives. They need to see and feel your love and concern for them personally. Life changing attitudes and responses are your goals. Teaching is not easy but, when you are praying, prepared, positive and personal, the impact will be dynamic. It is a great responsibility, but you are not alone. He has promised: I am with you always . Make this prayer of Ruth Harms Calkin, your prayer: Lord, I have studied; I have prepared; I have prayed. Now, as I teach my class This lovely Sunday morning, Fill me with Your love, Your radiance, Your wisdom and power.

Make my life the proof Of the truth I proclaim. I am not content, dear Lord, Simply to impart information. I long to behold transformation. STEWARDSHIP ENRICHMENT REMEMBER: You sow the seed, but God gives the increase. (I Corinthians 3:6-7) lesson #1 ~ The Lordship of Christ Teacher s supplement Page 1 BIBLE STUDY lesson #1 The Lordship of Christ Give Him All The Keys AIM: 1. To lay the spiritual foundation for the STEWARDSHIP ENRICHMENT program of your church. 2. To assist your class to recognize the Biblical truth of the Lordship of Christ. 3. To help them understand the implications of His Lordship in their personal lives. 4. To challenge them to completely surrender themselves to His sovereignty in all areas of life time, talent, treasure and testimony.

TEXT: Philippians 2:5-11 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

INTRO: This BIBLE STUDY on the Lordship of Christ is first in the series because it is fundamental. As the STUDY points out our salvation is based on this (Romans 10:9-10) and our discipleship is controlled by it. Anything less is hypocritical because Jesus said Why do you call me Lord and do not as I say? (Luke 6:46) If your class can say with all their heart Jesus Christ is Lord of my life everything else will be settled. There will be no need for any other STEWARDSHIP ENRICHMENT appeals or encouragement. Sacrificial giving and living will be their way of life. 9 The Meaning of saying Jesus Christ is Lord A. The Greek word used for Lord is KURIOS and was a key word for those early Christians. It was the title given to the Greek gods of that day. Kurios Serapis was Lord Serapis. The Roman Emperor demanded that his subjects address him as Kurios Caesar Caesar is Lord. In the Greek translation of the Hebrew Scriptures the name of God Jehovah was translated Kurios. To say that Jesus Christ is Kurios or Lord was to say that He was God. B. Many of those early Christians were brought before the Emperor and forced to say Caesar is Lord . Many were put to death because they could only say Jesus Christ is Lord.

C. Picture this scene. If you had been a Christian in the first century you probably would have been called before a Roman official for treason for it was treasonable not to worship the Emperor, Caesar as god. In this courtroom scene the magistrate might have said to you Octavius (or your name) this is a simple matter. All you have to do is say Jesus be damned Caesar is Lord and you are free. Those early Christians could only say Jesus is Lord and as a result they died in the arena or on a cross. They couldn t say Caesar is Lord . D. Today Christians do not face the same scene, but every decision they make must be considered in light of the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
