Various excursions to the farm and zoo and shops have taken place much to the delight of the very successful Camp for Years 5 and 6 at Tallong has been another highlight of term. Special thanks to Santa Sabina College for their generous hospitality at their outdoor education site and the provision of their Year 10 girls to assist our staff with the camp.
2 It was marvellous to witness our students aiming high and encouraging each other to attempt new activities and go even further in their individual endeavours at each challenge: students attempting the high ropes and flying fox with broad smiles on their faces; building their confidence and self-reliance; managing their homesickness and feeling good about themselves. What a wonderful experience for both the students and the teachers in Stage 3. 3 What a wonderful and significant occasion and experience for the children involved and their families in their faith Annual MeetingOur Annual Meeting will be held at 7pm for on Wednesday 25 October 2017 at Wahroonga campus. Consideration will be given to the Office Bearers for positions on the P & F Committee for 2018. Please mark this date in your calendar and come you to all staff involved in planning and delivering such exciting programs of teaching and learning throughout the term in a range of different contexts and age trust students, staff and parents can manage to get some rest in the holidays after a very gruelling term of sickness and can recover and refresh ready for Term 4 after this very challenging flu season. During the holidays, please look out for a short survey coming to you about St Lucy s website. It has been about 18 months since it was launched in its current format and we want to collect some feedback about how it s being used and received.

Wishing you all a safe and happy and wonderful break!150th Anniversary: The other week, your child would have brought home with them a commemorative bookmark to highlight the 150th Anniversary of the Irish Dominican Sisters arrival in Australia. At school, we marked this special occasion with a whole school liturgy that was attended by Sr Helen and other representatives of the Dominican Education Australia network. St Lucy s is part of the legacy of what happened 150 years ago, and it reminds us of the story to which we for the Lutz-Manrique Family: Fr David wishes to invite you to the Sunday Mass on the 15th October at Holy Name Church Wahroonga, which will be dedicated in memory of Maria, Fernando, Elisa and Martin. This Mass will also coincide with the Parish Family Picnic and Blessing of the Animals, to which you are invited to also attend following Mass.
6 This is when pets are brought along to be blessed by Fr David, and food is provided in which to of the Sacrament of First Eucharist: On Tuesday 19th September, Fr David led a very special liturgy which celebrated the Sacrament of First Eucharist for those children who have been preparing to receive their First Holy Communion in recent weeks. Thank you to Sr Helen and Mrs Maria Sproats for their assistance in preparing the children for this momentous occasion, and to the many staff who assisted in preparing the liturgy. It was so lovely having family members, friends, staff and students there to celebrate this big day . We were blessed with beautiful weather so that the celebrations could continue in the Maple Courtyard for morning tea. Congratulations to Poppy, Samara, Rachel, Nathan, Benson, Mikayla, Christian and Kai!Wishing you peace and blessings!

9 We look at how the body needs to move differently to create large or small Dance moves. We practice moving together as a large group, and taking turns in small groups, or individually. Dance Artist to be confirmed. WEDNESDAY 27th September: THEATRE Simon Freestone explores stories with larger than life characters, and the tiniest characters whose actions make a huge difference to the lives of those around them. Theatre skill practice of using big and small voices and movement, will help the students to create their stories. TUESDAY 26th September: ART - Photography Students take visual art into the digital realm, where they will explore the photographic image.
10 Students will be taking their own photos and with Marcela Ordonez s guidance, will learn how to add digitally play with the photos they take, creating new art works. MONDAY 25th September: ART Mixed Media Marcela Ordonez will guide the students through art work large and small. She will explore the ways of filling large blank materials, before turning attention to the smaller details, which draws the viewer in to look more closely at art. Enrol your child in the Creative Arts HOLIDAY PROGRAM this September! Workshops are designed and run by Professional Performance and Visual Artists in collaboration with St Lucy s staff.
