1 CLASSIFIED. School District OF Citrus County . JOB Description . MAINTENANCE WORKER - GROUNDS. QUALIFICATIONS: (1) High School Diploma or GED preferred. (2) Possess a valid Florida Driver's license. (3) One (1) year experience in custodial or building maintenance activities. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the methods, tools and materials used in the mowing and grooming of facility grounds. Ability to perform work involving physical strength and endurance and to withstand exposure to variable weather conditions. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Skill in the use of common hand tools and equipment for the activity to which assigned. REPORTS TO: Structure & Mechanical Foreman JOB GOAL. Assist in the completion of job assignments as assigned at various schools in the maintenance and improvements to grounds within the Citrus County School District .
2 SUPERVISES: N/A. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: (1) Perform general labor and manual tasks as related to mowing and grooming facility grounds.*. (2) Perform labor and maintenance tasks requiring some special knowledge, usually acquired by experience in grounds-keeping and landscape maintenance and work without close supervision on regular phases of work assigned.*. (3) Perform labor and maintenance tasks related to maintaining facility irrigation systems, drainage and landscaping appurtenances and other general field work as needed.*. (4) Operate trucks and other light equipment, such as tractor mower, push mower, chainsaw, leaf blower, edger, weed-eater, hedge-trimmer, or various other grounds and landscaping equipment.*. (5) Collect trash and other debris, and perform maintenance on grounds and landscaping equipment.
3 *. (6) Assist in the application of pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and various other soil enhancers.*. (7) Perform safety checks to ensure all areas around the outside of the facilities meet expectations for providing a safe environment for students, District staff, and visitors.*. (8) Use effective positive interpersonal communication skills.*. (9) Perform job responsibilities with sustained focus and attention to detail for extended periods of time. *. (10) Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the job goal of this position. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force as needed to move objects. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District 's approved compensation plan.
