2 We provided opportunities for over 6,500 families to stay connected, heal and thrive in safe building brighter futures fundraising campaign also experienced great success in 2010. Kosair Charities generously pledged $2 million in support which brings the campaign total to over 50% raised to date! Family and Children s Place is eagerly anticipating the opening of Kosair Charities Child Advocacy Center in the coming months. We have the solutions to abuse, neglect and violence, and we are experts in prevention, intervention, and recovery. 3 Repairing, brick by brickbuilding on what we knowFacts about Family & Children s Place Family and Children s Place serves 6,500 children and Family members each year The average annual income of families in the HANDS program was less than $3,000. 1,166 children were seen at the Child Advocacy Center this year. The Children s Program provided over 26,000 hours of care for children ages birth to five who have been victims of abuse, neglect or violence. 90% of the youth in the FASS program felt more comfortable talking to their parents and felt closer to their families after participating in the the pieces back togetherFamily & Children s Place provides the following services within a 17-county region that encompasses Louisville, KY and southern Indiana:Children and Family Services is a broad-based Family counseling program serving child and adult victims of violence with proven interventions.

4 Services help individuals, couples and families to resolve problems affecting personal and Family life. Emphasis is on treating children and adolescents through trauma interventions and Family counseling. Parenting assessment and education, school-based services and supervised visitation are also provided. HANDS helps foster healthy pregnancies and births, stable child growth and development, safe homes and self-sufficient families through a voluntary intensive home visitation program for first time or expectant parents. Services can begin during pregnancy or at any time before a child is three-months old. The Children s Program provides specialized early childhood services for children from birth to age five, who have been abused or exposed to all forms of Family violence. It s the only nationally accredited and state-licensed program in Kentucky specifically for children exposed to abuse or violence.

5 The Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is a child-friendly center that assists child victims of sexual abuse trauma and their Family members. Services help children ages 0 through 17 and adults with intellectual disabilities. Forensic interviews, mental healthcare and medical care, are offered at the CAC. Then, they are used to assure fact gathering, assessing the emotional consequences of an experience and ensuring a qualified medical examination to identify possible injuries or health concerns. Family and School Services strengthen relationships among Family members and improve children s academic and social competencies through structured school-based programs. Services increase child success in school through a collaborative, activity-based approach involving the child, Family and school. Homeless Prevention Services keeps families out of the homeless shelter system, helps families locate housing or remain in their homes, and ensures families do not face risk of homelessness again.
