3 It may be useful to add the link to your Favourites for future reference. When you first access the online Health & Safety Assessment System, you will need to register your details, which will be verified against the data held. 1. Click the Register Now link to get started. If you do not know your HV number, you can find it on your BESA membership certificate and reminder letter. Alternatively, please contact the H&S Support team for further assistance 2. The following screen will be returned. Enter your HV number in full HV123456 and email address in the fields provided. Then click Continue . BESA online Health & Safety Assessment System - Member Guidance - 3 If your HV Code and email address match the details we hold on the system, you will be sent an e-mail providing you with your password to access the system.

4 3. Click on the link in the email to access the online service and start your assessment. Enter your user name, which is your email address, and password and click Log in . This is how you will access the system going forward. If you forget your password at any time in the future, you can enter your email address and click Send Password to receive a reminder. 5 From the home page, you can upload documents, complete your assessment and seek guidance on compliance. If you require assistance at any stage of your assessment, please contact us. Your Assessment This page provides all the information relating to your assessment. It advises when you are due to start your assessment, the date you are expected to complete your assessment and the status of your assessment. You will have 2 months to complete your assessment. Your Documents This section displays the documents that you upload in order to complete your assessment. You will need to provide documentary evidence for all areas of your assessment. We recommend that you upload all the documents required before you start to complete your assessment.

6 Guidance Library The Guidance Library contains documents provided by BESA that provide members with information on Health and safety compliance. They may assist you in completing your assessment. You can also change your password here if required. General feedback We value any comments or suggestions you may have to improve the online assessment service and the User Guidance. P10 BESA online Health & Safety Assessment System - Member Guidance - 7 Guidance library The Guidance Library contains documents provided by BESA that provide members with information on Health and safety compliance.

8 They may assist you in completing your assessment. 1. Click on the Guidance Library Tab, then click the links to each of the areas listed. 2. To open a document in the How to complete your Assessment section, click How to complete your Assessment. 3. Click the documents listed below to open and review, then click Guidance Library or Guidance Document Library to return to the Guidance Library menu screen. You may find it useful to print the documents to refer to whilst completing your assessment. BESA online Health & Safety Assessment System - Member Guidance - 8 YOUR ACCOUNT If you wish to amend the contact details of the person who would complete the Health and Safety assessment, you would do so in this area. 9 4. If you wish to change your password, enter your new password, confirm your new password, then click Change Password. You would also use this section to change your contact details. Amend your details as required, then click Save to update the details. BESA online Health & Safety Assessment System - Member Guidance - 9 DOCUMENT UPLOAD Step 1 Supporting Evidence You will need to provide documentary evidence to support all areas of your assessment. We recommend that you upload all the documents required, in pdf format if possible, before you start to complete your assessment. You can upload and save all your documents and continue with your assessment later. 1. Click on the Guidance Library tab and click on the How to complete your Assessment link highlighted below.

10 2. Click Quick Guide to documents required and upload guidance to view the list of relevant documents. You may find it useful to print this document. Click on the Your Documents Tab on the home screen and click on the Browse Your Computer link at the bottom of the page. 2. When the box pops up with the document, click here to upload your document.
