2 This latest revision includes diagnosticwax-up and wax bite scanning, fullanatomical CAD of complexrestorations, and advanced integratedprecision attachment design andmanufacture. As part of the manufacturing process welaser scan models and dies to aresolution of 10 microns, producingcrowns and large bridges that haveexcellent strength and fit. We chose laser scanning because itoffers superior accuracy and scanningspeed to the contact scanning methodemployed by some systems. Our technicians then design the copingor framework using some of the mostpowerful 3-D CAD-CAM softwareavailable, being capable of simply,reliably and quickly fabricating multiplebridge frameworks.

3 Our CAM system is also one of the mostflexible on the market, manufacturingrestorations from a wide variety ofmaterials including composites, bondedtitanium, Vita InCeram Alumina andZirconia all ceramic, and the extremelystrong Zirkon (zirconium oxide). Other systems mill so-called greenstate zircon, because it is softer andtherefore easier and quicker to mill, plusless demanding on the milling tools. Thedisadvantage is that the coping orframework shrinks significantly duringfiring, which can adversely affect fit. Although we can mill from green-statezircon, we prefer to mill from hard statepre-sintered zircon (ours is the onlysystem strong enough to do this) whatwe mill fits straight to the model thusavoiding the inherent inaccuracies of ashrink firing stage.
