1 CatalogWhen an allograft arrives in your OR, you expect certain things about it. Like, for example, that the donor was healthy and not above a certain age. And that the tissue was processed in a way that did not compromise its functionality. The unfortunate fact is, those things are true only some of the time. Although there are national standards and protocols for tissue banks, they only set a baseline for the industry. Beyond that, regulations leave a lot to interpretation, so standards vary significantly from bank to bank. Add to that problems with supply and inventory for many banks, and things get even more complex.
