The metal between the vanes is removed,and partial shrouds are provided formaximum vane support. The backvanes are the same curvature as thefront vanes. The entrance shape ofthe vanes is more tangential to thecircumference of the suction, whichreduces turbulence. The open-vane design eliminates re-circulation, which occurs inclosed impellers.
