1 Cermet II HygrometerA panel-mounted Hygrometer designed for moisture measure-ment from -100 to +20 C dewpoint. Applications includedewpoint monitoring of non-flammable process gases such asair, nitrogen, sulfur hexafluoride, carbon dioxide, helium orargon in industries ranging from heat treating to pharmaceuti-cal to utilities to semiconductor manufacturing. Digital Display High Accuracy and Repeatability Digital Signal Processing PPMV Pressure Compensated Readout Multiple Engineering Unit Display Optional Second Process Variable Input Dual Alarm Relays & Scalable 4-20 mA Output NIST Traceability Interchangeable Sensors NEMA 4 Sensor HousingGeneral DescriptionThe Kahn Cermet II Hygrometer consists of a digital displaywith integral signal conditioning board, ceramic dewpoint sen-sor and an interconnecting cable. The sensor can be installeddirectly in the gas line or in a separate sampling gas streamby utilizing the optional sensor block.

2 The display can be easily mounted in a control panel or other appropriate independent, adjustable set-point relays are providedwhich can be used to provide an operator alarm should thedewpoint exceed user programmable limits. For systems thatuse PLCs or other controllers, a 4-20 mA scalable, linear out-put is provided as standard. Open sensor and sensor failure indication is standard and relay contacts are also offered as an digital display mounts in a 1/8 DIN cutout. It features a large, easily readable indicator with programmable bright-ness. Engineering units offered include PPMV (pressure compensated), F, C, #/MMSCF (pressure compensated), and g/m3 (pressure compensated) .The optional second input accepts a 4-20 mA signal from any2-wire transmitter. It can be configured as a separate displayfor pressure, temperature, flow or other process displaying in PPMV, #/MMSCF or g/m3line pressure canbe entered manually, or a pressure transmitter can be con-nected to the optional second input to provide automatic pres-sure Kahn ceramic sensor is made from state-of-the-art metalized ceramic and replaces traditional materials such asaluminum, silicon and hygroscopic salts.

3 This sensor is madefrom a ceramic tile that is plated and vapor deposited to forma surface that is very sensitive to small changes in watervapor proprietary coating processes make the Kahn ceramicsensor inherently faster to respond than other impedance sen-sors currently available. It also features greater resistance tocorrosive gases and other contaminants. All of Kahn s ceramicsensors are fully interchangeable without display sensor features the latest digital technology with calibra-tion data stored directly in the sensor s memory. It can belocated up to 4000 feet from the digital display without affect-ing calibration and will operate at pressures from near vacuumto 5000 PSIG and temperatures from -40 C to +60 C. Thesensor is equipped with a built-in thermistor for automatic tem-perature used in conjunction with an appropriate intrinsically safebarrier unit, the special configuration of the Cermet II may beused in environments containing flammable INSTRUMENTS, Wells Road, Wethersfield, CT 06109 Phone: (860) 529-8643 Facsimile: (860) 529-1895 E-mail: is Dewpoint?

4 Dewpoint is defined as the tempera-ture at which the water vapor pres-sure of a gas equals the saturatedwater vapor pressure. It is thereforethe temperature at which condensa-tion just begins to occur if a gas is a fundamental unit anddirectly equivalent to water vaporpressure or parts per million. It is avery convenient measure of actualwater content of a gas because it isnot a function of temperature in thesame way relative humidity Kahn Cermet II Hygrometer isfactory calibrated to insure consis-tent, accurate readings. The cali-bration of all Kahn ceramic, alu-minum oxide and chilled mirrorhygrometers is traceable to theNational Institute of Standards andTechnology through master Kahnoptical hygrometers which havebeen directly calibrated at the NISTand are periodically recalibrated. Acertificate of traceability is availablewith any of these instruments. Allsensors are fully interchangeablewithout the need for display recali-bration.
