CHAPTER 17 STRUCTURAL TESTS AND SPECIAL INSPECTIONS

1 CHAPTER 17 STRUCTURAL TESTS AND SPECIAL INSPECTIONSSECTION provisions of this CHAPTER shall apply toClass I buildings and shall govern the quality, workmanshipand requirements for materials covered. Materials of construc-tion and TESTS shall conform to the applicable standards listed inthis New building materials, equipment,appliances, systems or methods of construction not providedfor in this code, and any material of questioned suitability pro-posed for use in the construction of a building or structure, shallbe subjected to the TESTS prescribed in this CHAPTER and in theapproved rules to determine character, quality and limitationsof Used use of second-hand materials thatmeet the minimum requirements of this code for new materialsshall be following words and terms shall, for thepurposes of this CHAPTER and as used elsewhere in this code,have the meanings shown AGENCY/ SPECIAL and recognized agency or design professional act-ing as the approved agency regularly engaged in conductingtests or furnishing inspection services, when such agency hasbeen approved.

Materials produced in accordance withstandard specifications referenced by this code, such as rolledstructural steel shapes, steel-reinforcing bars, masonry unitsand wood STRUCTURAL panels shall not be considered fabricateditems.

If it isdetermined that the evidence submitted is satisfactory proofof performance for the use intended, the building officialshall approve the use of the material or assembly subject tothe requirements of this code. Reports shall indicate that workinspected was done in conformance to approved construc-tion documents. Discrepancies shall be brought to theimmediate attention of the contractor for correction. If thediscrepancies are not corrected, the discrepancies shall bebrought to the attention of the building official and to theregistered design professional in responsible charge prior tothe completion of that phase of the work.
