1 Charging System Warning LightThe Charging System Warning Light comes on when there is aproblem with the electrical Charging System or when the igni-tion switch is turned on with the engine not running. If the lightcomes on while driving, stop and check to see if the alternatorbelt is loose or broken. To check the belt tension, push on themiddle of the belt as shown; it should have 17 mm( in) deflection under a force of 98 N (22 lb).If the engine has been running, some engine componentsmay be hot enough to burn hands away from the radiator fan.

2 The fan may startautomatically without Warning and run for up to 30 minutes,even after the engine is turned : If necessary, have the Charging System checked by anauthorized Acura Brake/Brake Failure Warning LightCheck the brake Warning Light every time you start the the parking brake set, the Warning Light should go onwhen the ignition switch is turned to II or III. With the parkingbrake released, the Light should go on when the ignition switchis turned to III. If the Light goes on at any other time, it meansthe brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir is too low;add fluid (See page 106) and have your dealer check for leaksand brake pad wear (cont'd) Warning and Indicator Lights (cont'd)Headlight High Beam Indicator LightThis blue indicator Light will go on whenever the high beamsare switched on (See page 42).

3 Turn Signal/Hazard Warning Indicator LightsWhen the turn signal lever is pushed for left or right turns, theappropriate green indicator arrow on the instrument panel willblink along with the signal. Turning on the hazard warningswitch will make all four turn signals and both arrows blink(see page 43).Cruise Control Indicator LightWhen the cruise control System is on, this indicator Light is on(see pages 46 and 47).Fuel Reserve Warning LightIf the Warning Light glows, it means you have about ( gal) or less fuel remaining and should Engine Warning LightThis Light comes on for a couple of seconds each time the igni-tion is turned on.

4 It will also come on, and remain on, if there isa malfunction in the emission control System . If the lightcomes on while driving, avoid drivng at high speed, and havethe System checked by an Acura dealer as soon as Check Warning Light (LS)This Light comes on for several seconds each time the ignitionis turned on. It will also come on, and remain on, to indicatethat a specified service interval has been reached or when anyof the monitored fluid levels become low. Push the systemcheck button and check to see what maintenance Indicator LightWhen the key is turned to the II position, the SRS indicatorlight will come on for about six seconds, to show normalsystem operation, and then turn supplemental Restraint System section on page Lock Brake Warning Light (L, LS)The ALB (Anti Lock Brake) Warning Light will come on, and re-main on, if there is a malfunction in the ALB System or if youhave driven off with the handbrake still on.

5 (The Light will alsocome on when the ignition switch is turned on with the enginenot running). If the Light comes on while driving, stop the car ata safe place and shut off the engine. The System is normal ifthe Light goes out after restarting the engine. If the Light doesnot go out or lights again while driving, have the systemchecked by an authorized Acura dealer as soon as :The Light does not indicate a failure of the normal brakesystem. The Light only indicates a malfunction in the ALBsystem. In such a case, the ALB System is automaticallyshut down but normal braking capability jump-starting the car, there is a possibility that theALB Warning Light may come on due to insufficient batteryvoltage.

6 After the battery is sufficiently recharged and theengine is turned off and restarted, the ALB Warning lightshould indicate that the ALB System is OK by coming on fora few seconds each time the engine is started. If the Light re-mains on after recharging, have it checked by an Acuradealer.(cont'd)S R SANTILOCKW arning and Indicator Lights (cont'd)Safety Indicator LightsDoor and Trunk Lid Warning LightsIf a door or the trunk lid is open when the ignition is switchedon, the appropriate indicator will Light , and stay lit, until thedoor or trunk lid is Lamp Warning LightIf a brake Light does not work, the BRAKE LAMP indicator willgo on when you push the brake pedal with the ignition on; theindicator will stay on until you have the lamp repaired or replac-ed.

7 Have the brake lights checked as soon as is dangerous to drive your car with a problem ineither the brake electrical or hydraulic System ; have yourdealer check both systems if you suspect brake the Safety Indicator LightsThe door, trunk lid and brake lamp Warning lights should comeon for about two seconds when the ignition switch is turnedon. If they don't, have the System checked by an Acura LAMPM aintenance Indicator (STD, L)When the total mileage of your car approaches the specifiedmaintenance interval for engine oil change, oil filter change orother required service, the indicator will change from green toyellow.

8 The indicator will change to red if it is not reset beforeyou reach the mileage interval. The indicator markedMAINTENANCE REQUIRED is to be used as a reminder thatthere are items in addition to the engine oil and filter that re-quire service each 7,500 miles (12,000 km). See themaintenance schedule on page 92. After the maintenance isdone, be sure to reset the switch below the tachometer by in-serting the ignition key in the slot. The color of the indicatorwill change to green and repeat its not reset the maintenance indicator while driv-ing; your hand may impair steering which can result in System (LS)When the ignition key is in the II position, a digital display in theupper center of the dash can provide a variety of drivinginformation and service reminders.

9 When no display isselected, the panel functions as a normal digital repeatedly pushing the TRIP FUNCTION button, the displaychanges from the clock to Remaining Fuel/Driving Range, TripMeter/Clock, Current Fuel Consumption, Average FuelConsumption and back to the repeatedly pushing the System CHECK button, the displaychanges from the clock to Oil Level Check, Radiator CoolantLevel Check, Washer Fluid Level Check, Next Service Interval,Next Oil/Filter Replacement and back to the the TRIP and System button lids are smaller buttonsfor resetting some of the display mode memories and for set-ting the Function:Fuel Remaining/Driving Range* Until there is about galremaining, displays the number of miles until the tank will beempty.

10 This information is based on average fuel consumptionand is updated every few seconds. When there is about left, a yellow Warning Light comes on and the displaychanges to the quantity of fuel Meter/Clock* Displays accumulated trip mileage (up to19,999 miles) and the time of day.
