Evidence of Parentage and Nationality - Child's original Turkmenistan Birth certificate (plus English translation). - Parents' passports and 2 photocopies of the biographic data pages - Parents' marriage certificate, if applicable (plus English translation) and 1 photocopy If one of these applies, you will need the following additional documentation. - There is only one American parent, married to a non-American parent: Please submit evidence showing that parent was physically present in the United States (examples: original school transcripts, pay stubs from employer, passport entry and exit stamps etc). The requirement to transmit your US citizenship is a minimum of 5 years physical presence in the US, at least 2 of which were after the age of 14. Generally, no such evidence is required when both parents are citizens.

4 - If one or both parents were previously married: Please submit evidence showing legal termination through death or divorce of all previous marriages. Provide original death or divorce certificates (plus English translation, if needed) and 1 photocopy of each. - If the parents were not legally married to each other at the time of the child's Birth and only one parent is an American citizen: Consult with the Consular Section regarding additional documentation that may be required to transmit citizenship to the child. Both parents and the child are required to appear in person at the Embassy.
