1 Pickleball ClubGeneral Membership UpdateDecember 2021 General Membership Update2 SCF Pickleball ManagementSystemsPickleball Management SystemsSCF Pickleball now powered by CourtReserveGeneral Membership Update3 The SCF Pickleball Club board approved the replacement of our club s fragmented, obsolete technologies with a single, integrated software-as-a-service platform called CourtReserve. The CourtReservesystem went live at SCF on 1 June 2021 and now supports the club s member roster, email communications, court reservations, ball machine (+ court) reservations, and event registrations. The only missing feature is a Ladders module which is expected to be ready in early CourtReservesystem may be accessed from your computer using a web browser or from your smart phone using a mobile app. The mobile app may be downloaded for free from the Google or Apple stores. Some of our members prefer using the mobile while others prefer the web browser.
2 Many members use both platforms the computer when they are home and the mobile app when they are on the go. CourtReserveis very rich in functionality and the developer frequently releases additional features. We attempted to minimize the amount of process change on June 1 to allow members to familiarize themselves with the new system but have been slowly deploying new processes and features over the past several are pleased to announce the SCF HOA has granted permission for the SCF Pickleball Club to accept electronic payments (credit card or e-Check) for new and renewed annual dues. We are now in a position where the club will no longer accept cash or personal checks in the Sage Center dropbox. All payments should be made online through CourtReserve. The system will automatically send you an email reminder when your annual dues have expired. 3 SCF Pickleball Styles of PlayGeneral Membership Update8 Styles of PlayBalancing the Evolving DemandGeneral Membership Update9 The club offers multiple styles of play to satisfy our diverse membership. Some members prefer to participate in club sponsored events where the players, courts and matchups are organized for them. Others prefer to make a court reservation and organize a private group to play together. Others prefer the open play format where they can just show up at the courts at any time and join a of our members participate in multiple styles of play while others focus on a single style. If you ask a member that does notparticipate in events how much court time should be allocated to organized events they might say zero . If you ask a member that onlyparticipates in events how much court time should be allocated to organized events they might say all of it.
4 The club is perpetually seeking the optimum balance between open, private and organized PLAYPRIVATE PLAY (Reservations)ORGANIZED PLAY (Club Events)Events are defined as rotations, ladders, skills & drills, clinics or any other club sponsored of PlayBalancing the Evolving DemandGeneral Membership Update10 The playing habits of the club are evolving. Before Covid-19, the club offered open play and events, and most of the events permitted players to just show up on the day/time of the event. At the onset of Covid-19, the club eliminated open play and introduced court reservations to aid in contact tracing. The club also required members to pre-register for events and added time between events to minimize the number of people milling around the club is once again offering open play, but some members have become attached to private reservations. We currently allocate a 50/50 split of court time between open play and private reservations excluding organized events -Wagner courts 1-8 permit reservations while Wagner courts 9-16 are blocked for open play; Sage courts 1-4 permit reservations while Sage courts 5-8 are blocked for open are observing a significant number of empty open play courts and plan to revise the allocation on January 1stto 1/3 open play and 2/3 private reservations excluding organized events: Wagner courts 1-16 will permit reservations while Sage courts 1-8 will be blocked for open play.
5 Court utilization will continue to be monitored and reallocated to optimize the membership Pickleball Event CalendarsGeneral Membership Update11 Rotationsare intended to be social events where the games are timed and frequently end without a team reaching 11 points. They are mostly restricted to one or two levels where players are mixed randomly. A few rotations allow many skill levels and are loosely segregated so that inexperienced players are not matched against highly skilled players. Rotations may have additional eligibility restrictions such as gender or age. Laddersare competitive events where the results are tracked, and court assignments are based on a player s past success. Ladders are restricted to skill levels and higher. Skill & Drillsare instructional sessions where players learn, develop and/or refine their pickleball skills and strategies. These sessions are typically structured with appropriate drills and strategies for the target skill level.
