The Stained Glass Window in North Wall facing Church door was given in memory of Mrs INA WHITAKER died October 1928. She was the wife of Rev J WHITAKER vicar of Cononley 188&1895. The figure depicted is St Helena and the face is the actual likeness of Mrs WHITAKER. It was copied from a photograph by the designer. This very beautiful window is inscribed "Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam et in Memoriam I W 1928." It was unveiled and dedicated on Saturday 3` August 1929.

4 The Rev WHITAKER and his family were present at the ceremony. AS Wood Plaque. On the panelling the left of the inner door of the church is a wooden plaque which in 1962 was removed from the Church Hall (Sunday School) and resited in its present position, The painted inscription reads. "In Memoriam the St Helena window in Cononley Church was erected to the memory of INA WHITAKER wife of the Rev J WHITAKER. Formerly Rector of Cononley , by members of her former Sunday School class and other friends. From her it never was our fate to find. Adeed ungentle or a word unkind. The Mildest manner with the bravest mind." This plaque was originally unveiled in the Sunday School 29" September 1929.

5 St John's Parish Church Cononley Monumental Inscriptions Page 5 A6 Window. Stained Glass Window in North Wall depicting the figure of Ruth was dedicated on Sunday ** **. It was designed by WILLIAM POPE of Leeds. Permission for its erection was given by a faculty signed 11th January 1961 after the induction of the Rev SI IARP as Vicar. The Rev Norman Stocks during his 2 1 years incumbency had always opposed the erection of stained glass windows. The window is inscribed "In loving and grateful memory of A L TETLEY. This window is erected by her daughters M B TETLEY and D M PEACOCK." A7 The East Window. The "Rose" stained glass window above the altar was erected by JAMES SMITH of Lister Hills Bradford In memory of his parents.

6 It was dedicated by the Rural Dean Rev F C KILNER on the 16th February 1895. A8 Brass Plaque. Near the vestry door is a brass plate with the following inscription. "To the Greater Glory of God in memory of MARTHA wife of JOSEPH SMITH of this parish who died November 27th 1842 and was buried at Barmbro in this county. Also of the above JOSEPH SMITH who died August 19th 1973 aged 86 years. This East window is offered by JAMES SMITH of Lister Hills Bradford their youngest son February 1895. A9 Window. The stained glass window in the South Wall near the Lecturn. Double light depicting figures representing Faith & Hope. This window was dedicated on 24th December 1904 by Archdeacon KILNER.

7 The window is inscribed "To the Glory of God and in loving memory of PETER & MARY ANN TEAL erected by their loving daughter A L TETLEY 1904. The inscription PO WEL Bros. appears in the lower right corner of the window. A10 Window. The stained glass window in the South Wall. Single light depicting the figure of the Good Shepherd. It is inscribed "To the Glory of God. In memory_ of WILLIAM OVEREND 1846-1920 & ANNIE his wife 1861-1947". Designed by GERALD E R SMITH of London. The faculty for its erection was signed and sealed on 21" April 1952. All Screen. On the oak Chancel Screen. "To the Service of god and in Memory of JOHN DALE WAWN.

8 This screen is offered by his wife November 1893." The work was done by Mr LAYCOCK and the carving by Mr A F SMITH from designs by Mr W B BAH-EY architect of Keighley. The name JOHN METCALFE Nov 1893 is carved near the top of the screen on the South side. A12 Cross. A plain brass Altar Cross-inscribed "To the Glory of God and in Memory of JOHN DALE WAWN, Priest in charge of this parish 1854-1865. A13 Desk. An Oak Litany desk inscribed. "To the Glory of God and in his Service this litany desk is offered by the parishioners of Cononley in Memory of Mrs JAMES WYNN who died October 25th 1917 Requiescat in pace." A14 Lectern. The Oak Eagle Lectern has a brass plate with the following inscription.

9 "In Memoriam presented by Mrs TETLEY Brooklyn Cononley October 7th 1897. A15 Choir Stalls. There is a Brass plate on the Choir Stalls with the following inscription. "To the Glory of God presented by A L TETLEY November 16th 1907 during the incumbency of the Rev T HILL LOWE." A16 Altar Rails. A small brass plate on the Altar Rails near the Vestry door. "These Altar Rails were given to the Glory of God by Miss ANNIE BROWN 1949." This gift was anonyrnous as long as she lived. She died May 1959 aged 81. Miss BROWN was a former Sunday school teacher, Mothers Union member & a member of the PCC. The inscription was added to the Altar Rail in 1960 after the donator was made known to the PCC.

10 A17 Seat. A small brass plate on seat in Children's Comer. "In loving Memory of JOHN & EMMA HOLDSWORTH. A18 Chair. Brass plate on chair. "In loving memory of JEAN GARNETT aged 6 years who died 28th August 1945. Jesus wants me for a sunbeam. A19 Chair. Presented by PAULINE GARNETT. A20 Table. Carved underneath the table is "J WALTON 1945" He was the Headmaster of Cononley Primary School and he made the Furniture. A22 Pews. The oak Pews that were fitted after the fire 1949 came originally from St MARGARETS Church Thombury Bradford. Brass plate on back of pew on South side inscribed. "To the beloved Memory of JOSEPH ROBSON who died Mav 27th 1947 A23 Altar & Reredos.
