Supporters Message from the Minister of External Affairs Message from the Co-Chairs A warm welcome is extended to all participants to the 5th India-US Forum. As we meet, the world is grappling with the wide-ranging impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Nations and economies are adapting to the new normal, while seeking a quick global economic recovery. In an interconnected world, India-US relations have much to gain and offer in the post-pandemic global scenario.

2 This year, the Forum has identified six sessions relevant to the India US relationship. These are also areas where the government and other stakeholders on both sides can play an important role. The first session, Quad and Future of the Indo-Pacific , will discuss collaboration on global challenges such as vaccine supplies, climate action, cyber security, emerging technologies, supply chains, terrorism, etc. Participants in the second session titled, A Shared Health Security Agenda , will assess ways to collaborate to vaccinate the world, chart a rapid response and recovery path for the future, and strengthen research collaboration and reforms in global health governance.

3 Given the importance of Afghanistan for both India and the US, the session on The Way forward for Afghanistan will discuss the current situation in that country, post-conflict reconstruction, humanitarian and economic assistance to Afghans, countering terror networks and managing the geo-political ripples in its neighborhood. The 4th session on A New Quad for West Asia will focus on ways to deepen economic cooperation between India, Israel, UAE and the US, including collaboration in energy security, life sciences, pharmaceuticals and data sciences. The Forum will focus on ways to enhance India-US bilateral trade, defence innovation and co- production and mobilising investments through new structural reforms in the session titled The path for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership.

4 As Climate Change is a global challenge, the last session, Collaboration on Climate Action , will deliberate on the importance of clean energy and technology, climate finance, strengthening infrastructure organisations such as the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure and the International Solar Alliance and priorities for India's G20 Presidency in 2023. The India-US Forum, convened by the Ananta Centre in close partnership with the Ministry of External Affairs, is an important platform that brings together a diverse group of influential stakeholders from India and the US. Since its inception in 2017, the Forum has held four very successful editions.

5 We look forward to stimulating and productive discussions during the 5th edition of the Forum, and to identifying ways of shaping the agenda and exploring the full potential of the India-US partnership in the post-COVID era.
