General Health System Primary care Primary Care Services Assessment, treatment services Health care services provided by physicians, specialists such as a psychiatrist, psychologists, nurse and preventive activities by Family practitioners and other Health service providers within a primary care setting for children, youth and Physicians, Specialists adults experiencing Mental Health problems, problematic substance use, including symptoms of (Psychiatrists), Nurses, Mental and/or substance use disorder, and other co-occurring medical conditions.

2 Psychologists and other Health Service Providers. Shared Care Services Primary Health Care Services include Mental Health and addictions service providers and primary care providers sharing responsibility for Mental Health and addictions care of individuals and families. There are a variety of ways in which care is shared, including integrating Mental Health and addictions services in primary care settings, holding joint clinic and educational rounds, educational programs for primary care providers in managing Mental and substance use disorders, as well as models of collaborative care where Mental Health and addictions specialists can support rural and remote primary care settings.

3 Psychiatrist A physician who specialized in the treatment of individuals with Mental Health problems Alternate Payment (APP) Refers to Alternate Payment Plan and is another way that some medical specialists including Sessions psychiatrists get reimbursed for seeing patients. It is an alternative to the fee for service model used to pay physicians in this province. Secondary Inpatient Service Acute Psychiatric Inpatient Inpatient Treatment Services (Adults). Care Adults Services include assessment, diagnosis, treatment, stabilization and short-term rehabilitation of people with serious Mental illnesses admitted voluntarily or involuntarily to a hospital psychiatric unit, which often include emergency psychiatric care.

4 Acute Inpatient Care Youth Inpatient Treatment Services (Youth). Services include assessment, diagnosis, treatment, stabilization and short-term rehabilitation for adolescents admitted voluntarily or involuntarily to a hospital psychiatric unit, which often entails emergency psychiatric care. Adolescents Services include assessment, diagnosis, treatment, stabilization and short-term rehabilitation for adolescents admitted voluntarily or involuntarily to a hospital psychiatric unit, which often entails emergency psychiatric care.

5 Acute Inpatient Care Geriatrics Inpatient Treatment Services (Geriatrics). Services include assessment, diagnosis, treatment, stabilization and short-term rehabilitation for adolescents admitted voluntarily or involuntarily to a hospital psychiatric unit, which often entails emergency psychiatric care. Hospital Community Mental Hospital Community Mental Health and Addictions Liaison Services Health and Addictions Liaison These services provides linkages between acute care and Community Mental Health and addiction Services services for patient admitted to Acute Care and those receiving services through the Acute Care emergency department.

6 Services include discharge planning as well as providing assessment and treatment support for patient in contact with the emergency department. Community Crisis Stabilization Community Crisis Stabilization Unit Units This service is an alternative to Acute Inpatient Care and provides crisis response and stabilization services for individuals and families. Services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The facility offers short-term interventions for adults admitted voluntarily and include assessment, treatment and stabilization, and referral for follow-up services.

7 These services are provided in a safe, supportive environment to assist individuals in managing their immediate crisis and continue ongoing treatment. Partial Hospitalization Programs Partial Hospitalization Programs - Day Hospital treatment and Day Treatment Services These programs include Day Hospital treatment programs and Intensive Day Treatment Services. Services include structured individual, group and family Mental Health and addictions treatment services for individuals with a Mental and/or substance use disorder. Services are usually provided within an acute care setting while individuals remain in their home environment.

8 Page 3 of 18. Hospital-based Specialized units for persons with specific Mental disorders Eating Disorders Eating Disorders / Disordered Eating Services (Programs). These Programs serve youth and adults with eating disorders, primarily anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. Depending on the severity of the disorders, services include: psychological and psychiatric interventions, including group counselling and support groups, individual counselling and family counselling consumer and family education and informational sessions about recovering from eating disorders interventions to initiate re-nourishment, increase body weight, and promote medical stabilization, when eating disorders are severe / life threatening.

9 Concurrent Disorder Concurrent Disorder Treatment Adult or Youth Treatment for adults or youth with concurrent Mental and substance use disorders. Treatment includes assessment, treatment, education, structured individual, group and family counselling/. therapy, psychosocial rehabilitation, and linkages to after-care and follow-up including case management and Community reintegration services. Neuropsychiatry Neuropsychiatry Services Specialized assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services, including long-term secure care and Community outreach services such as counselling, education, medication, safety and risk assessments, and, depending on the severity and complexity of the behaviours and medical conditions, services may include radiology investigations such as MRI and CAT Scans and neuropsychological testing.

10 Psychosis (Refractory Psychosis) Psychosis (Refractory Psychosis) - Inpatient Treatment Services The Psychosis Program offers highly specialized services to adults suffering from psychosis and for whom either the diagnosis is unclear or symptoms have failed to adequately remit despite treatment attempts. These services include comprehensive diagnostic assessments, intensive multi-modal treatment, and consultation. The program uses a multi disciplinary, and individualized approach to the assessment and treatment of each patient. Mood Disorders Inpatient Treatment Services Mood Disorders Specialized Services for adults with severe mood disorders including depression and bipolar disorder.
