2 I hope you have all had a relaxing and enjoyable summer break, and students are feeling enthused about their learning for the year ahead. We particularly welcome our new students joining us in Year 7, and also students joining Year 12 from other schools, or who have joined us in other year groups. I look forward to working with families to ensure students are happy, enabling them to excel in their academic and extra-curricular life at COOPERS . Phones will be confiscated if they are seen or used, and returned at the end of the day. If confiscated again during the school year the phone will only be returned to a parent/carer following a meeting with a member of the School Leadership team.

Examination Results August 2018 Mr Baker Year 11 Outstanding GCSE Results Year 11 students have been celebrating their GCSE results which now include the new 9-1 grading for the majority of subjects. Comparisons cannot reliably be made with previous years because of these reformed qualifications. English outcomes were in line with national average and Maths outcomes were above national average in all grade boundaries, with eighteen students achieving grades 8-9. Our Sixth Form enrolment desk was extremely busy and we have been able to offer most students exactly what they wanted as they achieved the entry criteria. Additionally, over 400 external students also applied for the limited number of places available. If you have any questions regarding the GCSE results, please email Page | 4 We would like to highlight a few of our amazing results: 96% grade 4-9 in Chemistry with 23% achieving the highest 7-9 grades 95% grade 4-9 in Further Maths with 43% achieving the highest 7-9 grades 93% grade 4-9 in Biology with 43% achieving the highest 7-9 grades 91% grade 4-9 in French with 32% achieving the highest 7-9 grades Results in Graphics, Media, Science, Drama, PE, History, Creative Writing were all above national average There were some incredible performances by individuals listed below, including a number who achieved the new grade 9 in English/Maths.

Year 13 Outstanding A Level Results Congratulations to all of our Year 13 students who collected their A Level results on Thursday 16 August.
7 This year s results were a reflection of the hard work our students have put in over the last two years. The number of students achieving the top A*-A grades is significantly above their aspirational target. 25% of all students achieved A*-B, and 50% achieved A*-C. BTEC results were also excellent, with nearly 50% of students achieving a Merit, Distinction or Distinction*. Our Year 13 students achieved an outstanding A Level pass rate comparable with the national average. 10% achieved the A*-A grades, 25% achieved A*-B grades and 75% achieved A*-C grades. Some of our individual subjects did exceptionally well; particular mention should go to Art where 50% of students gained an A* grade and Finance, Textiles, Further Maths and Photography where A*-B was over 50%. Careers, Education, Advice and Guidance Mrs Bramley Work Experience Programme The work experience programme came to a successful conclusion at the end of the summer term with a large number of Year 12 students participating in either one or two week placements. A small percentage of Year 10 students that are looking at vocational routes following their GCSEs also completed a week s experience.

10 Solicitors, Youth Work Feedback from employers has once again been extremely positive with a number of students being offered paid employment and the school received some wonderful comments about our students: Henry is a confident, personable individual and was engaged in learning as much as possible. All the managers were keen to have him back as he had a great attitude about everything Absolutely wonderful, very proactive, perfectly dressed, a credit to her parents Picked up a complicated booking system within one day, by the end of the week was a vital asset to the team Sydney was very professional and communicated well with all the Adults and Children. She was always in school early willing to help out. Sydney was a very capable and pleasant student to have in the classroom. She used her initiative and worked really well with the children The children love Alissa! One of the best students we have had re work experience A breath of fresh air, a charming polite young man, very bright, he engaged well, positive, motivated and enthusiastic.
