Classroom Activities to Teach Children About sound .To assist class teachers in selecting the objects and pictures for anactivity or in selecting the best activities for focusing on a particularsound the following word list has been the starting point in sound analysis usually involves listening to andidentifying the first sound in a word, the word list is based on the initialconsonant sounds of words aregrouped alphabetically into themes or categories andthen further categorized into single syllable words , multisyllable wordsand words beginning with aconsonant blend. This represents the generalorder of difficulty in identifying the INITIAL sound in a of the INITIAL or beginning sound in a word can be assistedby:- elongation the long sounds sssun, mmman, fffly etc breakingthe explosion sounds /p/, /b/, /t/, /d/, /k/ and /g/ from thebeginning of the word, blending the word back together anddiscussing how the first sound slides into the next sound b-at, bat stretching out all the sounds in a word while emphasizing theinitialsound by saying it more loudly.
