Sag or DATAC ontractors SCS1000 silicone sealants exhibit typical siliconesealant resistance to the environments encountered in generalpurpose glazing and sealing applications. These environmentsinclude ultraviolet radiation, ozone, high and low temperatureextremes and hydrolytic stability (high temperature and humidity).TECHNICAL SERVICESC omplete technical information and literature is available from GESilicones Technical Centers. Laboratory facilities and applicationengineering are available upon request from GE Silicones. Anytechnical advice furnished by the Company, or any representative ofthe Company, concerning any use or application of any sealant isbelieved to be reliable but the Company makes no warranty, expressor implied, of any use or application for which such advice product data values should not be used asspecifications.

Assistance and specifications are available bycontacting GE Silicones at 800/255 STANDARDSC ontact GE Quality Assurance for details on certifications to:Federal Specifications TT S 001543A ASTM C920 Type S, NS, Class 25, USE NT G, A & O. TT S STATUSGE has on file documentation from USDA which states thatContractors SCS1001 , SCS1002, SCS1003 and SCS1009sealants are chemically acceptable for use on structuralsurfaces in official establishments operating under the FederalMeat and Poultry Inspection Program. Contractors SCS1097does not have USDA approval. For further information,2contact GE Silicones Product Regulatory final granting of authorization for the proposed use ofsuch compounds is the responsibility of the inspector incharge of the official plant.

Technical assistance will beprovided by the Product Safety Branch of USDA STATUSThe following sealants may be used in food contactapplications for repeated use under FDA Regulation 21 Adhesives and Resinous and PolymericCoatings : SCS1001 , SCS1002, SCS1003, SCS1009 use of these adhesive sealants is subject to the followingconditions:The adhesive sealant is applied in accordance with GoodManufacturing Practice at a thickness not to exceed 6 mm( in.) from an exposed edge. As a continuous film between joints acting as a functionalbarrier between the food and the substrate (areaunderneath the joint). The adhesive sealant must be cured for a minimum of 14days at 25 C (77 F) and 50% The operating temperature of the adhesive sealant aftercure must not exceed 177 C (350 F).

All previously mentioned adhesive sealants must be evaluated todetermine bond strength for each specific application. If greateradhesion is required, the evaluation of SS4044 ( clear ) primer isrecommended. SS4044 primer may be used in repeated contact withfood under 21 CFR , Resinous and Polymeric Coatings .SS4179 does comply with FDA STATUSNSF International lists SCS1001 , SCS1002, SCS1003 andSCS1009 adhesive sealants under NSF International Standard 51 Plastic Materials and Components for Use in FoodEquipment as satisfactory for use on splash zone for UseLINEAR FEET PER GALLON OF GE CONTRACTORSSCS1000 SERIES silicone sealant FOR VARIOUSJOINT SIZESWIDTH, INCHES1/31/43/81/25/83/411/8123261641130 72462051543/16 41127520516413710331/4 307205154123103773/8 137103826851 JOINT DESIGN AND DIMENSIONSS ilicone sealants should be no thicker than 3/8' and no thinner than1/8'.

The use of a bond breaker prevents three sided or polyurethane foam rods are recommended asback up materials. If the joint is too shallow to allow foam rod, use abond breaker width of building expansion joints varies because of seasonaland daily changes in temperature. The designed joint width must beat least four times the expected thermal PREPARATION: sealant bonding surfaces should besound, clean, dry and free of contamination. Use isopropyl alcoholwipe to clean : On glass and glazed surfaces, primers are not primer may be required on plastics and other constructionmaterials for maximum adhesion. It is recommended that a bead ofsealant be applied to the substrate material to test adhesion prior togeneral job : Areas adjacent to joints should be masked, preferablybefore priming, it if is necessary to obtain a neat sealant OF APPLICATIONC ontractors SCS1000 sealant can be applied directly from plasticcaulking cartridges with a hand gun or pressure SCS1000 silicone sealant is supplied as aready to use, one part sealant with a lightweight consistency.

Thisconsistency remains relatively unchanged over a temperature rangeof 35oF to 140oF ( 37oC to 60oC), allowing the sealant to be easilygunned in any season, to clean, dry, frost free surfaces. WhileContractors SCS1000 is gunnable at temperatures as low as 35oF,the cure rate will be very slow below 40oF. Additionally, the sealantmay not cure to its design properties if cured at temperatures N SCS1800 sealant is available in , 5 gallon pails, and 55 gallon drums. Pricing ofpails and drums is based on weight of material contained. Handling and SafetyMaterial Safety Data Sheets are available upon request from GE Silicones. Similar information for solvents andother chemicals used with GE products should be obtained from your suppliers. When solvents are used, propersafety precautions must be recommended pressure for air operated guns with caulking cartridges is 45 psi ( kgs/cm2).
