Dear M r. He nshaw Pro ject List an d Requirem ents Using the book dear mr . Henshaw , choose one of the projects below to complete. Be prepared to present your project on _____. Along with the project you choose from the list below, you will be required to turn in a 5-paragraph summary of the book as well. Letter to an A utho r Write a letter to your favorite author. Your letter must be done in the friendly letter format. You must construct 10 questions you would like the author to answer. The questions cannot be done as part of a list, but in sentences with details on why you are asking the question. The final copy of the letter can be typed, but must be in either Arial or Times New Roman font size 12.

You can mail the letter if you wish, but make sure I get a copy of the letter first. Create a Mo vie P o ster Pretend the book will be made into a movie. Design a poster to advertise the movie. Be sure to use a catchy slogan to catch the audience s attention and make them want to go see it. Be sure to include the name of the book and the author s name on the poster. You can put your name on as the director! The poster must be on a poster board and be in color. All original drawings, no computer print-outs of pictures. Be sure to check your spelling before finalizing your poster! In the Future L etter This story was written in 1983. It has been 30 years and Leigh is quite a bit older.

Pretend you are Leigh and write Mr. Henshaw a letter. The letter should include all the changes that happened in Leigh s life since 1983. Include what Leigh now does for a living, where he lives, his family, his friends, and what his hobbies are. Be sure to include information about Leigh s mother and father since he wrote a lot about them to Mr. Henshaw . Remember to use a friendly letter format. You can type the letter, but it needs to be in either Arial or Times New Roman font size 12. Create a Diary Start keeping a diary of your own! Design the cover that is creative and reflective of who you are and what you enjoy to do. Your diary must include at least 5 entries, each with a different date.

Your diary can be real or made-up. Do not include names in your diary. Refer to people as their title: my friend, my teacher, or my sister/brother. Your diary must be handwritten (not typed). Character P o rtraits Create individual portraits of the following characters from the story: Leigh, his mom, his dad, Bandit, and Mr. Henshaw . Make sure that you use any descriptions given from the book. Each portrait should be neat and in color. Be sure that each character is drawn on a different sheet of paper. Since it is a portrait, be sure to include a frame in your drawings. Comic Strip Create a 6-frame comic strip of your favorite part of the book. You must include a title of the scene, dialogue between characters, and captions explaining what is happening.

Your comic must be neat and in color. You must trace everything in your comic in black ink so that it is easy to see what is happening. Each frame must be a piece of plain paper and either glued or taped together for a complete comic strip.
