When you first became Huskers, none of us would have anticipated these would be the circumstances under which we would be celebrating your accomplishment. You should be enormously proud of what you have achieved. Our university community is made up of students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends who know what it means to be determined and resilient in the face of obstacles. We strive toward our goals by adapting and innovating. We reach out for help when we need it and support one another when we swee someone who could use a helping hand. That is what we mean by In Our Grit, Our Glory. I could not be more proud of what you and all of our graduating students have accomplished during this unprecedented time of COVID-19. You have earned all the glory that comes with it!

2 Commencement is a truly special time. As the first in my family to earn a college degree, I cherished my Commencement ceremonies. I am overjoyed that we are once again able to conduct in-person ceremonies and continue our time-honored tradition of presenting your actual diploma on stage. I hope the memories you take from this ceremony last forever, too. You are part of a historical graduating class. Green, , Chancellor, University of Nebraska LincolnRonnie D. Green became the University of Nebraska Lincoln s 20th chancellor on May 8, 2016. Green received bachelors and masters degrees in animal science from Virginia Tech and Colorado State University, respectively. His doctoral program was completed jointly at the University of Nebraska and the USDA-ARS Meat Animal Research Center in animal breeding and genetics in Green is married to UNL alumna Jane Green and they are the proud parents of four children, all graduates of the University of Nebraska D.

She was then a postdoctoral visiting scholar at the University of Minnesota before she joined the Department of Psychology at the University of Nebraska Lincoln in 2008.

5 She currently serves as the associate chair in the Department of Psychology at UNL. Her research focuses on sexual objectification, dehumanization, and sexual violence, and lies at the intersections of social psychology, gender, the law, and public health. Dr. Gervais has over 60 peer-reviewed publications, an edited book on objectification and dehumanization, and a forthcoming book on alcohol and sexual violence. Her work is funded by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. Some of her current and previous grants focus on: promoting prosocial bystander behavior in intoxicated men; understanding the role of alcohol myopia and objectification in sexual assault; and using virtual reality to assess the efficacy of a motivational interviewing intervention to increase bystander behavior. Dr. Gervais has been the recipient of the Georgia Babladelis Best Paper Award from Division 35 of the American Psychological Association as well as the Gordon Allport Intergroup Relations Prize from Division 9 of the APA.

6 She is also a fellow for the Society of Experimental social Psychology. Professor Gervais has also been recognized for her mentoring and teaching, receiving the Dean s Award for Excellence in Graduate Education and the Distinguished Teaching Award from the College of Arts and sciences . She is past associate editor of Psychology of Women Quarterly, Journal of Experimental social Psychology, and British Journal of social Psychology and has served on the Law and social Science panel at the National Science Foundation. 7 He studied at the Kennedy Space Center, Goddard Space Flight Center and Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Farritor is a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors. He holds a bachelors degree from Nebraska and masters and doctoral degrees f rom M IT. Shane is a native Nebraskan, growing up in the small central Nebraska town of Ravenna. His wife is a physician and they have four children.
