2 System Requirements. (a) Hardware. Processor -Pentium-xMemory -16 MB (minimum)Display -VGA (minimum, SVGA recommended)Resolution -640 X 480 (minimum, 800 X 600 recommended) (b ) 95/ Win 98/ Win NT with Internet Explorer- 4xor Internet Explorer- 5x duly Dir-Windows software must be available in C:\ Operating tips. On inserting the CD, the AF REGULATIONS screen will bedisplayed. Here three options/ buttons are available. First one is to INSTALL theprogram on your PC, second one is to RUN the program directly from CD andthe third is to EXIT the program / CD.

3 3. If you choose to RUN the CD, the screen will display two portions verticallysplit. The right hand side has the REGULATIONS title and the left side has threeoptions Contents, Index and Search.(a) Contents . On clicking this box, the contents of the AF Regulationsbook appears showing only the Chapters. Closed purple color book indicatesthat the chapter has Sections/ Paras. On clicking required chapter, thecontents show Sections available in that chapter. On clicking the Sections,Para numbers along with the title of the paras are listed. One may clickdesired Para to see the paragraph on the right hand side.

4 At the end of eachpage, the green color arrow allows you to go to next Para by clicking on it.(b) Index. On clicking the Index box, one gets the index of allimportant words available in the AF REGULATIONS manual. These arearranged in alphabetical order and on clicking required word, the right sideshows all paragraphs where these words appear. The selected word willappear highlighted against navy blue background color. The page can berolled up, through vertical scroll bar (on right side) to view the paragraph tillend.(c) Search. On clicking this box, the cursor will go to the spacewhere you can type the required word.

5 Thereafter, click List Topics buttonthat shows all paras containing this word. Then select the required topicand click Display If you choose to INSTALL the package, please ensure that minimumhardware and software requirements as specified above are available on your go ahead. The install program will install the program in AF REG folder/dir and an icon named 'AF REGULATIONS ' will be put on your Desktop fromwhere the package can be run For installation, it is mandatory to have VB Runtime files which comesalong with Windows 98. If these are not available the CD has these files in'/Vbruntimes' directory.

6 Unzip and run setup to install these Known Errors..(a) not found. Copy the file from "your CD drive\PACAKAGE\ SUPPORT" to your 'windows\system' directory.(b) Unable to Run the REGULATIONS . Check for the file in yourwindows directory. If not present install Internet Explorer Version fromyour win 98 CD.(c) Unable to run through shortcuts on Windows Desktop.. Follow theshortcut creation method (right button click on desktop) to create a shortcutto "c:\windows\ help\ "Care and Handling of This CD is to be given same care as given to other AF publication andRegulations for the AF (1964) revised edition be issued to authorised The program is to be loaded in PCs on required basis at formation/ PCs authorised for loading this program must be clearly designated inwriting by the Commanding In case of unserviceability or corruption in the CD, the same is to bereturned to AIR HQ (AOA Computer Centre, Room No 132.)

7 For All efforts have been made to incorporate latest amendments in the CDVersion of REGULATIONS for the Air Force. In case of any discrepancies, same maybe intimated for incorporating in the master copy and subsequent communicationto all the agencies. Any mistakes or deficiencies noticed may be brought to thenotice for carrying out necessary rectification, like wise suggestions to improvethe effectiveness of the package may also be REGULATIONS for the Air Force are issued under the authority of the Government of India and supersede the " REGULATIONS for the Royal Indian Air Force- (Rules) - Reprint1942" and " REGULATIONS for the Indian Air Force - lnstructions by His Excellencythe Commander-in-Chief in India, Reprint 1945".

8 Air and other Officers Commanding are responsible to ensure that these REGULATIONS are strictly observed and that localinstructions or orders that may be issued from time to time are in no way inconsistent,with these for which these REGULATIONS do not provide for precisely or sufficiently shall bedealt with in conformity with their spirit and REGULATIONS do not supersede or cancel any admiinistrative and departmentalregulations, orders and instructions which are currently in force and which govern certainspecial categories of officers and men or else contain special provisions of a purelyadministrative nature and are therefore not repugnant to the spirit of these REGULATIONS .

9 Such orders and instructions are supplementary to and in amplification of are expected to interpret and apply these REGULATIONS reasonably and with dueregard to the interest of the SERVICES , bearing in mind that no attempt has been made toprovide for necessary and self evident exceptions, nor for such matters as would be dealtwith by local authorities. Should questions arise regarding the correct interpretation of these REGULATIONS , the finaldecision in the matter shall rest with the Goverament of India. Departmental and other REGULATIONS are based on, and take their authority from theseregulations.

10 Should any variance arise between such REGULATIONS and the REGULATIONS forthe Air Force, the authority of the latter is SHANKARS ecretary to the Government of India, Ministry of DELHI ;03rd January, 1968 EXPLANATION OF TERMS The terms below when used in these REGULATIONS will be taken to mean :-Air officer : An officer of the rank of air commodore or officer Commanding-in-Chief: An air or other officer who is appointed to command an airforce command and includes an officer who is in command for the time being during the absenceof the officer posted for that or other officer Commanding: The officer who is appointed to command an air force groupor formation.
