2 Below is the schedule of testing from July 2016 - June 2017:Exam Period7301 July 6, 2016 - December 31, 20167310 January 3, 2017 - June 30, 2017 Monthly Schedule: A monthly schedule of the dates to apply, schedule and test will be available within the weekprior to the 1st day of each month at and at the DCAS Computer-based Testing & ApplicationsCenters. Although the testing period for the exam numbers will be open for multiple months, the available test datesand times for self-scheduling will be released on a monthly basis and specified on the monthly exam COMPUTER-BASED TESTING & APPLICATIONS CENTERS: This exam will be administered atthe DCAS Computer-based Testing & Applications Centers:ManhattanBrooklyn2 Lafayette Street210 Joralemon Street17th Floor4th FloorNew York, NY 10007 Brooklyn, NY 11201 You may take the Environmental Police Officer test at either location, but you may only take each exam numberonce.

3 If you take a test with the same exam number more than once, only your first test will be rated and youradditional application fee will not be : You are not permitted to enter the test site with cellular phones, beepers, pagers, cameras, portable mediaplayers, or other electronic devices. Calculators are not permitted. Electronic devices with an alphabetic keyboardor with word processing or data recording capabilities such as planners, organizers, etc. are prohibited. If you useany of these devices in the building at any time before, during or after the test, you may not receive your test results,your test score may be nullified, and your application fee will not be may not have any other person, including children, present with you while you are being processed for or takingthe test, and no one may wait for you inside of a Computer-based Testing & Applications Center while you aretaking the Identification: You are REQUIRED to bring one (1) form of valid (non-expired) signature and photobearing identification to the test site.

4 The name that was used to apply for the exam must match the first and lastname on the photo ID. A list of acceptable identification documents is provided below. If you do not have anacceptable ID, you may be denied testing. 6 Environmental Police Officers operate motor vehicles and may perform aerial reconnaissance. Allpersonnel perform related Assignment Level I, under supervision, Environmental Police Officers patrol and secure water supplyfacilities and lands, and monitor the environmental integrity of watershed areas. Environmental PoliceOfficers patrol the watershed area, reservoir areas, installations and other sites maintained by the Departmentof Environmental Protection for the purpose of safeguarding life and property; maintain order by preventingbreaches of the peace, despoilage and theft, and by arresting offenders; investigate suspicious persons andoccurrences and make lawful arrests when probable cause exists; collect evidence and consult with superiorofficers about the preparation thereof for court presentation; testify at trials and note dispositions made ofthese cases by the court.

7 Submit reports on all unusual incidents, including accidents, occurring during theofficer s tour of duty; may administer first aid when an accident occurs on the officer s post; direct traffic asneeded; investigate and report instances of contamination of water courses or violation of Watershed Rulesand Regulations; and may provide technical training and participate in public education for Environmental Police Officers are currently outside New York City. Positions may belocated in any of the following counties: Westchester, Dutchess, Greene, Sullivan, Putnam, Delaware, Ulster,Orange or of the physical activities performed and environmental conditions experienced by Environmental PoliceOfficers are: working outdoors in all kinds of weather; walking and/or standing in an assigned area duringa tour; driving or sitting in a patrol car during a tour while remaining alert; running after a fleeing suspect;climbing up stairs; carrying an injured adult with assistance; gripping persons to prevent escape; restraininga suspect by use of handcuffs.

8 Detecting odors such as those caused by smoke or gas leaks; engaging in handto hand struggles to subdue a suspect resisting arrest; being physically active for prolonged periods of time;understanding verbal communication over the radio with background noise; reading and writing under lowlight conditions; carrying or wearing heavy equipment. (This is a brief description of what you might do in this position and does not include all the duties of thisposition.)THE SALARY: The current minimum salary is $41,922 for the first 26 weeks and $48,093 after the first 26weeks. Incumbents at Assignment Level I will receive salary increments reaching $63,631 per annum after6 years.

In addition, there is an annualuniform allowance, longevity pay, and contributions by the City to Welfare Fund and City-paid healthinsurance. There are three assignment levels in this class of positions. Appointments will be made toAssignment Level I.
