She was born1776 in North Carolina, and died September 24, 1880 in Stanly Co., for WILLIAM Whitley :There is some contradiction as to the exact date of William "Uncle Billy" Whitley 's birthdate. It is said that the Family Bible, which had his birthdate in itwent west with one of his Jacob Whitley papers state that he was born in 1775 and that is what is onhis tombstone, other sources point to the year March 13, 1890, the Stanly Observer of Albermarle, North Carolina, wrote along memorial to "Uncle Billy" Whitley stating that he died March 3, 1890, atthe age of 117 years of there abouts which indicates a birthdate of December1772.

The November 18, 1975, article commented further about him: "Uncle Billyhad never ridden a train, nor been many miles from his home. He lived throughthe inauguration of every President of the United States up to that time..fromWashington on down. He always wore home spun and woven clothes..probably never bought a suit of clothes in his life.

Whitley the musket , that Uncle Billy displayed, andis often mentioned, is the same gun that Uncle Billy's father brought back fromthe Revolutionary War. Gen.
