(3 days) Training People with Diabetes -All trainees will be able to conduct Diabetes Education classes to people in their community. Training stresses the development of skills and knowledge related to Diabetes by using interactive group activities and adult Education methods. deep is designed as an 8-10 week curriculum for DSME and divided into eight modules covering topics that include Diabetes risk factors, complications, nutrition, physical activity, use of the glucose meter and medications, building partnerships with a Diabetes health care team, psychosocial effects of illness, problem-solving strategies, and how to access community Diabetes resources. The curriculum is based on national Diabetes care and Diabetes self-management Education guidelines and recommendations.( 2 hour weekly classes for 8 weeks) Who should attend a deep Train the Trainer Training?

3 Staff who work with people who have Diabetes and conduct or plan to conduct Diabetes self-management Education classes. Who will be conducting the training? The training will be conducted by deep Master Trainers from the Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention Section of DSHS.
