The word DSS Player is used to refer tothe DSS Player Pro Dictation Module inWindows environment and DSS Player forMac in Apple Macintosh environment. Do not store the RECORDER in placesexposed to excessive moisture or dust.

5 Do not use organic solvents such asalcohol and lacquer thinner to clean theunit. Do not place the RECORDER on top of ornear electric appliances such as TVs orrefrigerators. Avoid recording or playing back nearcellular phones or other wirelessequipment, as they may causeinterference and noise. If youexperience noise, move to anotherplace, or move the RECORDER further awayfrom such equipment. Avoid sand or dirt. These can causeirreparable damage. Avoid strong vibrations or shocks. Do not disassemble, repair or modify theunit yourself. Do not operate the unit while operatinga vehicle (such as a bicycle, motorcycle,or go-cart). Keep the unit out of the reach ofchildren.<Warning regarding data loss>Recorded content in memory may bedestroyed or erased by operatingmistakes, unit malfunction, or duringrepair is recommended to back up and saveimportant content to other media such asa computer hard Pack (BR402) Danger Do not solder lead wires or terminalsdirectly onto a battery or modify it.

6 Do not connect the and terminalstogether. This may cause fire,overheating or electric shock. When carrying or storing the battery(BR402), be sure to put it in the providedcase to protect its terminals. Do not carryor store the battery with any metalobjects (such as key rings). If thiswarning is not followed, fire, overheatingor electric shock may occur. Do not connect the batteries directly toa power outlet or a cigarette lighter ofan automobile. Do not insert the batteries with theirand terminals reversed. If any liquid from a battery gets into youreyes, promptly wash it off with cleanwater and consult your doctor at once. There is a hole from which gas escapes onthe terminal. Do not cover or block it(BR402). Warning Batteries should never be exposed toflame, heated, short-circuited ordisassembled.

7 Do not attempt to recharge alkaline,lithium or any other non-rechargeablebatteries. Never use any battery with a torn orcracked outer Charger (Cradle) Danger Do not attempt to use this chargerwith anything other than OlympusNi-MH batteries. Using it incombination with other batteriesmay cause fire, explosion, leakageor overheating. Do not put the charger in it when wet or in a humid area(such as a bathroom) may causefire, overheating or electric shock. Do not use the charger withbatteries that have beeninserted with their andterminals reversed. This maycause fire, explosion, leakage,overheating or damage tobatteries. Never modify or disassemblethe charger. This may causefire, overheating, electricshock or injury. Keep batteries out of the reach ofchildren. If you notice anything unusual whenusing this product such as abnormalnoise, heat, smoke, or a burning odor:1remove the batteries immediately whilebeing careful not to burn yourself, and;2call your dealer or local Olympusrepresentative for service.

8 Do not expose the rechargeable batteriesto water. Do not allow water to contactthe terminals. Do not remove or damage the batteryinsulating sheet. Do not use the batteries if you findsomething wrong with them such asleakage, color change or deformity. Unplug the charger if the charging is stillincomplete after the specified time itshould take. Should any battery liquid get on skin orclothing, promptly wash it off with cleanwater. Keep batteries away from Precautions Caution BR402 rechargeable batteries areexclusively for use with Olympus digitalvoice RECORDER DS- 4000 . Do not use themin combination with other equipment. Do not subject batteries to strongshocks. Do not use with other types of batteries,or with batteries that have differentvoltages or brand names. When using more than two batteries,charge them at the same time.

9 When using new batteries, or batteries whichhave not been used for a long time, be sureto recharge them even if they were only usedfor a short period of time. Warning Do not use the batteries if youfind something wrong withthem such as deformity orleakage. This may causeexplosion or notdisassemble7AC Adapter Danger Be sure to use the charger withthe proper voltage (AC 100 - 240V). Using it with other voltagelevels may cause fire, explosion,overheating, electric shock orinjury. For safety, be sure to unplug thecharger from the outlet beforeperforming maintenance orcleaning. Also, never plug in ordisconnect the power plug with awet hand. This may cause electricshock or injury. Warning Do not attempt to disassemble, repair ormodify the AC adapter in any way. Keep foreign objects including water,metal, or flammable substances fromgetting inside the product.

10 Do not moisten the AC adapter or touchit with a wet hand.
