1 Date of job description : June 2015 Next Review Date: June 2017 1 Diploma Trained Childcare Educator Responsible to: Childcare Team Leader Responsible for: Support and assist the centres Team Leader in the organisation and co-ordination of all areas of the Childcare centre to ensure the smooth operation of the service in compliance with all directions set by the Council and the Department of Education and Communities. Aim of the position Provide high quality care and education for children in a safe, caring environment.
2 Communicate and liaise with individual parents to establish a positive relationship. Report writing and mandatory attendance to all meetings Key Responsibilities: Formally and informally observe children to assess development, which will be the basis of learning programs. Plan, program, and implement daily activities and group situations to stimulate the children in all aspects of the development. Research material that is appropriate for self-improvement and the development of the program.
3 Attend relevant in-service courses to extend knowledge in all areas of early childhood education. Discuss formally and informally with parents any aspects of the education and progress of their children and consult with the Team Leader before referring to other people or agencies as required. Help parents understand the purpose and operation of the program through formal and informal means contribution to newsletters, posters, Maintain developmental records of focus children and ensure confidentiality.
4 Work with the Team Leader to develop policies that relate to the safe and efficient running of the Child Care Centre. To be successful in this role you will possess: Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care Minimum 2 years experience working with children aged 0 5 years. Excellent understanding of the National Quality framework, including National regulations and quality standards. Excellent understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Current Working with Children Check.
5 (WwCC) Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain. Proven understanding and acceptance of varying cultural and language backgrounds. Bi-lingual in a community language (Cantonese or Mandarin preferred) Date of job description : June 2015 Next Review Date: June 2017 2 GENERAL MANAGEMENT: Organisation wide responsibility Monitor and report to the Team Leader issues in relation to your areas of responsibility. Decision-making, reporting and other responsibilities within agreed delegations.
6 Ensuring good communication with staff, clients and stakeholders. Communication and reporting to the Team Leader as required. Perform your duties in line with the Code of Conduct to create and contribute to a harmonious and effective workplace. HR/PEOPLE MANAGEMENT Ensure compliance with National regulations and safe work practices of Riverwood Community Centre SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Ensuring programs are meeting the needs of the community Promotion of programs and activities to the community Completion of required reports to the funding body PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Encouraging self-improvement through development and training.
7 Participate in professional development where appropriate.
