2 Distances: 5/10 kilometers for all three events. Eligibility: All are welcome. Everyone must register and sign the insurance waiver at the start, fill out and carry a start card and turn it in upon completing the walk. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Fees: There is no charge to participate. If you have IVV Books, the fee for IVV credit is $ per event. Award and IVV credit is $ The award is a 3-3/4" x 3-1/2 , 100% embroidered patch as depicted on the front page. This award is available at ONLY the Tennessee Only 20 awards will be available at the Tennessee event. These will be available to the first 20 who register. Additional patches will be ordered after the walk if they are available from AVA. No refunds. Pre-registration is for the Tennessee walk only. There is no pre-registration for the Virginia walks. Go north miles to Hemlock Road. Turn right and continue miles to the park entrance. Follow the signs to Duck Island. The start point is at Shelter 1 at the top of the hill next to the large parking lot. Qualifies for AVA Special Programs: NONE. Miscellaneous: parking is available in a large lot just down from the Start/Finish point. Water and restrooms are available at the Start/Finish point. Start/Finish point is at a pavilion, and food and drink will be available at family-friendly prices. Please do not litter and smoke only where permitted. Trail is not suitable for wheelchairs, baby strollers, wagons, etc.

The trail will be mostly on city streets in the City of Bristol , VA/TN. The trail will take you thru a very nice neighborhood and then thru downtown where you will go thru a nice park , by the fire and police departments, by the location of Fort Shelby, and two murals (one about country music and one about racing). Bristol is considered to be the "Birthplace of Country Music" according to a resolution passed by the US Congress in 1998 for its contributions to early country music recordings and influence.

One of these local sounds was created by the Carter family. The Carter Family got their start on July 31, 1927, when Carter and his family journeyed from Maces Spring, Virginia, to Bristol , Tennessee, to audition for record producer Ralph Peer who was seeking new talent for the relatively embryonic recording industry.
