B Page 5 of 11 Datalink Functionality The dlink + w/ cpdlc can be programmed to initiate automatic downlinks associated with aircraft movements and transitions.

Downlinks between flight phases such as Out/Off/On/In (OOOI) messages allow airlines to track flight progress in real time while eliminating time consuming and error prone manual entries. Downlink message blocks from the dlink + w/ cpdlc are received by VHF Mode A/2 ground stations, which in turn forward the messages to the intended user. The end user s processors may perform the following functions: Convert air/ground message blocks to the ground/ground communications protocol used by airlines, and vice versa. Route uplinks to the destination aircraft according to tracking information established from previous downlinks. Route downlinks according to label and message type to the parties designated by the airline. Monitor connectivity of VHF ground stations.

Create files of traffic per airline to enable billing. Record messages for fault analysis. cpdlc Functionality PM cpdlc per (per ATN SARPS & ICAO 9705) (partial implementation to support Link 2000+) Base Line Link 2000+ ATN Messages Data Link Initiation Capability (DLIC) enables initial contact between the aircraft and an ATC unit that supports data communications, to unambiguously identify the aircraft, and to ensure compatibility of aircraft equipage with ATC. It is a prerequisite to any other operational data link services. ATC Communication Management (ACM) provides the necessary information to the aircraft to enable transfer of frequencies for both voice and data communications, either within the same sector, between two sectors or between two ATC centers.

ATC Clearances (ACL) enables uplink of a set of clearance and information messages and downlink of pilot responses and requests. ATC Microphone Check (AMC) enables the controller to send a message to data link equipped aircraft (of appropriate interoperability) to request a stuck microphone check. ATS Messages over ACARS Departure Clearance (DCL) enables the request and the delivery of departure information and clearance. Downstream Clearance (DSC) enables the request and the delivery of clearance with a downstream ATC centre ( oceanic clearance). D ATIS enables the request and the delivery of ATIS via data link. dlink + w/CPDLCT echnical Description Document Number: TD 14114 1 Rev. B Page 6 of 11 Interfaces In addition to exchanging messages with ground systems directly from the flight deck through the dedicated control display unit (CDU), dlink + w/ cpdlc is capable of interfacing with a number of aircraft systems to facilitate the automatic generation and transmission of routine and other types of messages (OOOI events, position reports, engine health monitoring, aerodynamic exceedance, fault warnings, etc.)

As shown in the figure below, the dlink + provides interfaces for several signal types: Eight ARINC429 input channels and four ARINC429 transmit channels. The transmit channels are able to support ARINC 740/744 printers and interface with ARINC 619 devices. One Ethernet connection that is routed to an external port on the aircraft. This allows connection to a laptop loader used for loading hardware configurations and user defined databases. dlink + w/ cpdlc CMU Interfaces dlink + w/CPDLCT echnical Description Document Number: TD 14114 1 Rev.
