Geophysics Job Title Intern Business Unit Geophysics and Remote Sensing Unit Location Pretoria Number of candidates 2 Nature of vacancy Fixed two-year internship Purpose of Position To gain experience in geophysical data collection, processing and interpretation in a variety of applications Negotiated Salary As per CGS determination (24 months) Qualifications BSc Hons (Geophysics), (Geology/Geophysics), Valid driver s license (advantage) Experience None Generic Key Activities Collect data in the field Process and interpret geophysical data Work under guidance and supervision.

3 Gives formal scientific or technical presentations of papers or reports, internally to other staff members and externally with guidance at conferences or symposia. Participates in statutory and occasionally commercial projects and publishes research findings internally and or externally. Ensures that work is conducted within the required ISO standards. Key Attributes Ability to conduct geophysical investigations and research under supervision. Ability to present geophysical investigations in a written report. Ability to present scientific papers to members of staff or externally.

Mapping 3 INTERNSHIP ADVERT 2018 Job Title Intern Business Unit Mapping Competency Location Upington Number of candidates 3 Nature of vacancy Fixed two-year contract Purpose of Position The job involves geo-scientific investigations in a wide variety of fields: carry mapping, innovative geological research and develop business Participate in local and international geological projects.

5 This includes logistical planning, field mapping and sampling with the principal aims of producing natural resource projects (minerals, energy, and hydrogeology). Negotiated Salary As per CGS determination (24 months) Qualifications BSc Hons (Geology), Valid driver s license (advantage) Experience None Generic Key Activities Conducts investigations or research that may involve mapping, gathering of data, compilation of maps and reports, laboratory analysis work in the Eastern Cape or KwaZulu-Natal or Limpopo Conducts moderately simple geo-scientific investigations or research under guidance and supervision.

6 Participates in statutory and occasionally commercial projects and publishes research findings internally and or externally. Engineering Geology Job Title Intern Business Unit Engineering Competency Location Pretoria Number of candidates 2 Nature of vacancy Fixed two-year internship Purpose of Position To undertake engineering geological investigations in the field of infrastructure development.

8 To participate in research specifically in the application of engineering geological techniques in such infrastructure projects and development on land underlain by dolomite Negotiated Salary As per CGS determination Qualifications BSc Hons (Engineering geology ) Valid driver s license (desirable but not essential). Eligible for SACNASP registration as trainee scientist Experience None Generic Key Activities Conduct site specific engineering geological investigations. Perform data searches for queries received from outside or internal clients.

9 Conduct occasional research into specific engineering geological problems. Compile reports on investigations and research findings, and present these to the clients. Presentation of investigation findings, in written and other forms. Liaison with consultants and clients when required on engineering geological matters on an ad hoc basis. Gives scientific advice to the public and private sector organizations within established guidelines and supervision. Key Attributes Impeccable professional conduct. The ability to work towards deadlines. Good communication skills, both towards technical, seniors and clients.
