The Disabled Parking Award (DPA) is owned and managed by Disabled Motoring UK (DMUK). Disabled Motoring UK is a national membership charity fighting to improve mobility and access for all disabled people including drivers, passengers, Blue Badge holders, scooter and wheelchair users.

A DPA is initially granted for one year and provides members of the public with a commitment from the owner/operator to provide facilities for disabled people and monitor their disabled bays to prevent abuse. Any organisation or person applying for DPA must: Fill in a self-assessment form and return it to DMUK. An appeals process is available to owners/. operators who believe they have reasonable grounds for concern regarding the administration and/or the outcome of an application/reassessment. Further information is available from DMUK. Appeals should be lodged in writing within one month of the failed assessment to: DPA Appeals, DMUK, Ashwellthorpe, NR16 1EX. 7. PROMOTING THE DPA. Car parks which have achieved the DPA are encouraged to promote the award by prominently displaying the DPA sign at their facility.
