2 BINDING AUTHORITY A. You may bind coverage for any risk meeting the underwriting rules outlined in this MANUAL . However, binding authority cannot exceed the following Maximum DWELLING coverage amount $150,000 Maximum liability amount $300,000 No more than 5 dwellings per policy If policy is in commercial name: must be written in commercial lines B. Minimum DWELLING coverage amount Broad form $25,000 Basic form $10,000 2. STRUCTURE A. Foundation Broad form: Continuous solid foundation Basic form: Block pier or wood post acceptable B. Heat Basic form: Space heat acceptable Broad form: Floor furnace or circulating heat acceptable up to $60,000 Central heat (thermostatically controlled, vented in every room) required for value in excess of $60,000 C. Occupancy Basic or Broad form: 1 & 2 family dwellings acceptable No student housing D. Electric Broad form: Breaker box required Basic form: Fuses acceptable E.

3 Roof Basic or Broad form: Shingle, Metal or Rolled roofing Rev. 7/11 DF-1 F. Plumbing Basic or Broad form: Plastic or Copper acceptable G. DWELLING Dwellings under construction or complete renovation: Must be written at Basic, Seasonal, Frame rates until completed Hybrid dwellings w/solid foundation: Broad form acceptable Hybrid dwellings w/pier foundation & skirting: Basic form acceptable (Hybrid DWELLING : mobile home with room additions) Basic form: Seasonal property (no VMM) 3. RISK CRITERIA A. Check with underwriting on risks requiring exceptions B. Mailed applications: completed with signatures, payment & photos of all insured structures On line applications: All screens completed, payment information & photos (retain signature in your office) C. When extending liability to other structures photos are required D. In situations where individuals are co-habiting, all individuals must be shown on the policy as named insured s E.

4 Liability & med pay are optional & may be added for an additional premium. GL70 is used for 5 acres or less. GL71 is used for acreage in excess of 5. 6 WOOD STOVE GUIDELINES A. Wood stoves vented into a metal UL approved triple wall or double wall insulated chimney acceptable B. Wood stoves vented into a fireplace must have the vent pipe extended to the top of the chimney C. Wood stoves vented into a chimney located on or within an external wall must be built from the ground up & have a tile or metal liner D. A completed wood stove questionnaire & photo of stove must accompany application 5. UNACCEPTABLE RISKS OR EXPOSURES A. Vacant or unoccupied dwellings B. Wood stoves or kerosene heat as sole source of heat C. Vicious dogs, including any dog that has bitten previously or any risk with the following: Rottweiler, Pit Bull, Doberman Pinscher, German Shepherd, Chow, Akita or any dog mixed with these. D. Existence of trampoline, broken steps, missing handrails or unfenced pools E. Applicants who have been canceled, non-renewed or declined by another company in the last 5 years F. Applicants who have had a total loss or theft claim G.

Limit of insurance: Mobile home age - Current & 3 prior years may be written for the purchase price with a copy of the bill of sale All others must be written for current NADA value plus additions Additions: Porches (w/roof) $15 per sq. ft. Decks $10 per sq. ft. Rooms $30 per sq. ft. B. Maximum coverage limit $125,000 1979 & older mobile homes $25,000 C. Minimum coverage limit Broad form $20,000 (not offered on mobile homes 1979 & older) D. Fireplaces Factory installed fireplaces acceptable with a 20% surcharge. NO wood burning stoves E.
