3 Information is subject to change without any National Certificate (Vocational) NC (V) is a high skills, high quality and high knowledge vocational programme that is intended to directly respond to the priority skills demands of the modern curriculum is offered at EWC in the following eleven learning areas (sub-fields):A. Engineering Studies Electrical Infrastructure Construction Civil Engineering and Building Construction - Carpentry and Roof work - Masonry Engineering and Related Design - Automotive Repair and Maintenance (Fitting & Turning) - Engineering Fabrication (Boilermaking) Information Technology and Computer Science MechatronicsB. Business Studies Management Marketing Finance, Economics & Accounting Office Administration Transport and LogisticsC. Utility Studies Tourism Hospitality Education and DevelopmentDuration of StudyEach NQF Level is offered as a oNE yEAr qualification, January to December.

4 Should you fail, you may be required to repeat the course or write a supplementary NC (V) qualification has a total of SEVEN SUBJECTS per NQF of the seven subjects are called FUNDAMENTAl SUBJECTS, they are common for all learning areas (sub-fields) and are also CoMPUlSory. The three fundamental subjects are:1. Life Orientation2. English First Additional Language3. Mathematics (All Engineering Studies programmes and Finance, Economics and Accounting), Mathematical Literacy (Business and Utility Studies).The purpose of the fundamental subjects is to provide a foundation upon which to build the vocational other FOUR subjects are called VOCATIONAL SUBJECTS. These subjects are also compulsory. 5 To enrol for NQF Level 3: competency in Learning Outcomes at NQF Level 2 To enrol for NQF Level 4: competency in Learning Outcomes at NQF Level 3 Pass requirements: You must pass all SEVEN subjects to obtain the NC (V) qualification at a particular level and to progress to the next NQF Level The pass requirement for the four vocational subjects is 50% per subject The pass requirement for the fundamentals subjects is as follows - Life Orientation - 40% - English First Additional Language - 40% - Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy - 30%Only oNE fundamental subject may be condoned for a maximum of 5%.No condonement for Vocational and AssessmentsThe final pass mark is compiled by the Internal Continuous Assessment mark and External Examination mark. Internal Assessment is continuous throughout the year and an External Examination is written during November each year. The external examination also include an ISAT which is a practical assessment task.

6 ISAT exams are completed earlier in the year, before the written exam in Continuous AssessmentInternal Assessment comprises of Formative and Summative Assessment includes class tests, standardized tests and performance tasks. Formative Assessment is comprised of class work, assignments, research projects, etc. Both Formative and Summative Assessment makes up a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE). This PoE is crucial as the Internal Continuous Assessment counts as follows towards the final pass mark:Fundamental Subjects - 25% of the final markVocational Subjects - 50% of the final markIntegrated Summative Assessment Task (ISAT) This is a practical assessment task for the vocational subjects5 Please note: The College /Campuses reserve the right to only offer courses/programmes that are justified by student numbers, to change the location/venue of programme offering and / cancel the OF THE NC (V) QUALIFICATIONN ational External ExaminationThe examination is external as the Directorate Examinations & Assessment sets the examination nationally.

7 This means that all Students nationally write the same examination paper on the same day for a particular subject. This sets national standards for assessment and achievement. The external examination counts as follows towards the final pass mark:Vocational SubjectsNational Examinations + ICASS (PoE) = Pass MarkISAT 15% + Theory 35 % (Oct/Nov) 50 % 50%Fundamental SubjectsNational Examination + ICASS (PoE) = Pass Mark 75% 25%NB! Students with incomplete ICASS and or ISAT marks will not be allowed to write the final November National Attendance Students must be punctual. Students who arrive late will after the start of the period, be regarded as late (but will be allowed in class) and this will be indicated on the register. Students may not be denied access to class unless they cause/display disruptive behaviour. Regular student absenteeism and late coming will be followed up by contacting parents/guardians/employers/sponsors within the relevant faculties/departments for disciplinary action.

8 Class attendance, academic/ programme progress and disciplinary warning(s) will affect Students testimonial. A special certificate will be awarded for 100% attendance. Attendance will be used as one of the criteria for placement of Students in job situations or learnerships. Attendance will be used as a criterion for student bursary allocation. If a student was absent for three or more consecutive lecturing days due to death of a family member, evidence must be provided on the day he/she resumes classes. If absenteeism was due to illness, a medical certificate must be submitted immediately on the day he/she commences class. If a test/internal examination/assessment was written and a medical certificate or evidence of death of a family member was not submitted, a zero (0) mark will be entered on the mark sheet. Pregnant Students : A medical certificate, stating the due date of birth, must be submitted as soon as the pregnancy is confirmed.

9 The student must take maternity leave for the last 4 weeks of the pregnancy unless a medical certificate is submitted that allows the student to continue attending classes. Students may not leave the venues during periods/lecturing times unless the necessary permission has been obtained from the lecturers. Absence due to such appointments will be regarded as non-attendance, even if a student notified his/her lecturers. The student should not be allowed to register for the next trimester/semester/year if their average class attendance for the previous trimester/semester/year is less than 80%.

10 The times absent with a valid reason a doctor s note or a copy of a death certificate of a close family member which has been submitted, must be taken into account. These absences should then not count. Clothing should be neat and acceptable in a societal and corporate environment and Students bags free of provocative or offensive statements, slogans or TVET College Bursary SchemeDHET bursary will be available for Students who enrolled for NC (V) levels 2, 3 & 4 in following Students may apply: Only South African citizens. Students wishing to enrol for programmes on a full time basis. Students who need financial assistance. Students who excel academically. Students who were awarded bursaries for NC (V) Levels 2/3 in 2018 but will not be promoted to Level 3/4 in 2019 can not apply for bursaries in means/income test will be note that an application does not ensure the awarding of a bursary and that Students need to still pay their deposit and class fees until a bursary had been awarded.
