Please view all pages and screen shots to make eLearning an easy experience and avoid unnecessary issues. The site address is and is available at all times from anywhere in Nova Scotia. 2 If you do not, courses will not show as completed and some screens may not display properly. IE version 7 is already compatible. Versions 8 and above MUST be set in compatibility view. Do not use other browsers like Google Chrome. Below are instructions on how to check your browser and set it to compatibility view. Check it regularly as automated updates and others using your computer may update the browser without you knowing. Open Internet Explorer and click on Help. You will see the version, as in the sample below. If your version is 8 or more, you must set your browser to Compatibility view. See sample below. Click Tools and then click Compatibility View 3 Quick Guide Last Updated May 25, 2015 The Guest Screen The first screen on the site before you sign in is referred to as the Guest Screen as it is the only screen you can view without signing in to the site.
3 The numbers below show what you need to know about this screen: 1: Be sure to check the information on this page frequently for important updates about issues or if the site will be unavailable due to maintenance. Note the information in the red box. 2: This Catalogue tab takes you to the Guest Catalogue. It lists only a couple of samples of the courses available on the site. To find all the courses you must sign in. 3: Click the Sign In link to go to the Sign In screen. You must sign in using your network username and password. These are the same ones you use to sign in to work email. You must put your domain\ or IWK\ before your user name. Please see the instructions on the sign in screen for samples. Notes for users: This site passes information to a database to be stored.

Please note the site is https:// 4 Quick Guide Last Updated May 25, 2015 The Sign In Screen Arrow 1: It is very important that you use the correct web browser so that courses and exams display and work correctly. Arrow 2: The first time you visit this site or it has been a while, please read all of the information on the Sign In screen. It will only take a couple of minutes and will update you with common issues/questions experienced by some users so you can avoid problems. Arrow 3: Type in your network username with your domain\ or IWK\ attached as shown in the Examples below. As of April 1, 2015 all DHAs have joined to become NSHA. The network directory still is set up by regions so user names still reflect the old DHA domains.

It is the same one you use to access work email, webmail, and your computer. Click the Sign In button. NOTE: As of April 1, 2015 all DHAs joined to become NSHA. The network directory still is set up by regions so user names still reflect the old DHA domains. There was no change for IWK employees. Notes for users: The back slash looks like this \ . Do not confuse it with the forward slash / found on the same key as the question mark. Everyone has a unique learning record tied to their username and password. o Never allow someone else to use the system with your username and password.
6 O Always sign out when you are done in the system. 5 Quick Guide Last Updated May 25, 2015 o If the system detects no activity after several minutes it times out as a security measure. You will need to sign back in. o Do not walk away from a learning session while doing exams, as you may lose your work and have to start again. In exams, you are required to Submit your answers (sometimes one at a time, and sometimes all at once at the end) the system does not consider the questions answered until you actually submit the answers. Your eLearning Home Screen Once you have signed in to the site, you are on the Your Learning Studio Homepage. You Home screen is a communication and organization page. Note each red arrow and its corresponding information listed below.
7 Arrow 1: Always be sure your screen Zoom Level is set to 100%. If it set below 100% your course may not fully display on the screen. That setting is found on the window s Status Bar. Arrow 2: Click on a tab to go to that screen. The tab turns teal/aqua when you are on that screen. Arrow 3: Please check the Information for Learners each time you visit. Arrow 4: These areas show courses that have been assigned to you. Once you complete a course it disappears from the list. NOTE: An easier to view list can be found on the My Learning screen. Arrow 5: Help link Please read the Help page the first time you visit the site and anytime you need help with a function. There are cheat sheets, FAQs and other information that may be helpful to you. New items are added and updated as required.
8 6 Quick Guide Last Updated May 25, 2015 The My Learning Screen This screen shows a list of all courses and exams that have been assigned to you by yourself or someone else. Think of it as your to do list . Items will disappear from the list when you complete the, Arrow 1: This area shows the course title. You can start the course by clicking this link or the Take now or Continue link. Arrow 2: The Type of learning shows if the course or exam is a Recommended or Mandatory item. Recommended items can be removed from your list, if you have not started them yet, by clicking on the Delete icon . The date your course is due is also shown here. Courses not completed by the due date will show up as late on reports. The course will remain available and on you re my Learning list until you complete it.
9 Arrow 3: This area shows the Action required such as Take Now or Continue if a course has already been started. If you must leave a course before it is finished, sign out. When you sign back in, the system will allow you to resume where you left off if you want. Each new item has a yellow star just to highlight it. You can remove it by clicking on it. Arrow 4: IMPORTANT: When a course has been completed it will disappear from this list. To see a list of completed AND non-completed courses, check the Show History box. It will show you the dates courses were completed. Just remove the check mark to return to the My Learning screen. Notes for users: Please note: As soon as you complete a course check the Show History screen to see that it shows as complete. The course will also disappear from you re my Learning screen.
10 If it does not show as complete and you are sure you viewed all screens and answered all quiz questions, check your browser to be sure it is compatible as described in this Quick Guide . 7 Quick Guide Last Updated May 25, 2015 The Show History Screen Arrow 1: When the Show History box is checked you are on the Show History screen. Arrow 2: When you have finished a course it will show as Completed in the Action column. Arrow 3: You will also see the Completion date as seen circled below. It is important to check to be sure the system recognizes that you have finished a course. Otherwise your learning record and reports will not show the course as complete. Courses will not show as completed if you are not using a compatible browser or if you have missed screens or have not finished quizzes in the module.
