1 Elementary Education (K-6) Course Schedule Updated 06/19/2018 The following courses can be completed prior to applying for admission to Professional Education : ED 3100 Introductions to the Foundations of Education (3 credits) *20 Hours of Field Experience* ED 3110 Educational Psychology (3 credits) Take with ED 3100 MATH 1011 Math for Elementary School Teachers I (3 credits) MATH 1013 Math for Elementary School Teachers II (3 credits) Prerequisite: MATH 1011 HLTH 3400 Health and Drugs in Society (2 credits) The following courses can be taken prior to admission, but we recommend taking them after ED 3350: HLTH 4100 Methods of Teaching Elementary School Health (2 credits) PHED 4200 Methods of Teaching Elementary Physical Education (1 credit) SEMESTER ONE SEMESTER TWO SEMESTER THREE SEMESTER FOUR ED 3350 3 cr.

Creative Process Foundations Prerequisites or Corequisites: ED 3100 and ED 3110 Endorsement/Elective Courses 6-9 cr. ED 3140 3 cr.

3 Human Relations in Education Prerequisites: ED 3100 and ED 3110 ED 3202 3 cr. Language Arts II Prerequisite:ED 3201 *20 Hours of Field Experience* ED 3301 3 cr. Creative Expressions Prerequisites: ED 3100 and ED 3110 ED 3780 3 cr. Adaptation and Management: Designing the Learning Environment Pr erequisites: ED 3100, ED 3110, and ED 3350, Pre-or-Corequisite: ED 3140 May not be taken with ED 3350 Endorsement/Elective Courses 3-6 cr.

4 Prerequisites for the following courses: ED 3100, ED 3110, ED 3140, ED 3201, ED 3202, MATH 1011 and MATH 1013 ED 4799 1 cr. The Professional Teacher Take the semester before student teaching THE BLOCK: These courses must be taken together and require 80 hours of scheduled field experience (within class time). ED 3203 3 cr. Language Arts III ED 3221 3 cr. Elementary Math Methods ED 3222 3 cr.

5 Elementary Science Methods ED 3240 3 cr. Social Studies in the Elem School Endorsement/Elective Courses 2-5 cr. You must complete all liberal Education requirements and major coursework (with a C or higher) before student teaching. ED 4820 12 cr. Student Teaching, Elementary You will complete a total of 12 credits of student teaching, even if you are adding an endorsement. You will register for Student Teaching during ED 4799 The Professional Teacher.

You will complete approx. 42 credits of Liberal Education courses and 63 credits of Elementary Education courses. You must complete a total of 120 credits to receive a Bachelor s Degree. Speak with your Advisor about adding an optional endorsement or minor to meet minimum credit requirements.
