Epoxy resins form infusible, insoluble solids when cross-linked with amine or other types of curing agents. Cured epoxy systems provide a number of attractive performance properties: Excellent adhesion Low shrinkage Excellent mechanical properties Excellent solvent and chemical resistance Good electrical properties Because they offer such a broad range of performance properties, epoxy systems are used in a variety of applications.

Typically curing agents cross-link epoxy resins in one of two ways: by reacting with the epoxide group to become part of the final polymer network or by acting as a catalyst to promote homopolymerization of the resin.
