1 Finalization Status UpdateThe Finalization process, or the process or certifying member s pension benefits, occurs through collaboration between the Police Pension Fund, the Office of the Actuary for the city of New york , and the New york city Comptroller s Office. This process may take from six to twelve months from the member s effective date of retirement. Some variables that impact the Finalization process can include pending contract settlements, vol-ume, and the time it takes for NYPD Central Payroll to calculate and disburse any retroactive monies.
