The Agency has a distinct mandate to finance, improve, manage and maintain the national road network (the economic arteries of South Africa) and is committed to carrying out its mandate by protecting and preserving the environment through context-sensitive solutions. The South African national road network consists of 22 197km of roads.

2 This network seamlessly connects major cities, towns and rural areas, supporting economic growth and social development and immensely contributing to job creation in the country. SANRAL adds value to all the developmental initiatives in the fields of transport, education, health, and development of communities. It revels in its role as partners in the development of all South African communities and sees this as closely aligned to our core function. SANRAL makes a significant contribution towards road safety by maintaining and improving our road environment, and by identifying and addressing road safety concerns.

The organisation will continue to actively participate in communities across South Africa and support the development of South Africa s human capital through tertiary institutions and cooperative governance. ROLE SPECIFICATION PROJECT MANAGEMENT assistant Role: Project Management assistant (RIMS & Stakeholder Engagement) Region: Eastern Region: Pietermaritzburg Employment: Permanent POSITION OBJECTIVE: To provide professional project administrative support across multiple projects to a centralised Project Team whilst developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with all SANRAL stakeholders to ensure required business results.

4 ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE PROJECT MANAGEMENT TEAM (RIMS & Stakeholder Engagement) PROJECT MANAGEMENT assistant QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE The incumbent must have a Grade 12 plus Relevant Diploma / Degree in Project Management or Office Administration; 3-5 Years working experience in a project administrative role. Proven working experience in a public / community liaison environment will be required. WORKPLACE COMPETENCIES: The successful incumbent will be able to effectively demonstrate the following: The ability to demonstrate attention to detail and to organize assignments in a timely manner. The incumbent should exhibit sound judgment and work well under pressure.

5 Technical skills in order to assist with technical input during involvement with project lifecycle. Excellent computer proficiency and project management skills. Planning, organizing and high level of administrative skills. Time management ability to work under pressure. Be self-driven and solution orientated Be proactive and show initiative. Attention to detail and analytical competency. Good communication & stakeholder liaison skills. Knowledge of government functions at both Provincial and Municipal levels. Should have knowledge of working with a Road Incident Management System. Or demonstrate sound knowledge of responsibilities of emergency services such as SAPS, Traffic Inspectorate, ambulance services.

6 WORKING CONDITIONS / INHERENT REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB: Adhoc travel; Attend Cluster Meeting as an when required; Attend meetings with government departments and other SANRAL stakeholders; Driver s License; Work is normally performed in a typical office ; KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Administrative involvement in project meetings, especially pertaining to stakeholder engagements on sites and at local or provincial government level; Administrative involvement in RIMS activities such as Safety Campaigns, Training events and general public outreach; Attend and participate in relevant meetings; Collate meeting packs; Type letters, agendas, minutes and other documents as required, including memos for board approval; Involvement in Regional Planning for RIMS and Stakeholder Engagement; External and Internal liaison with SANRAL stakeholders; Provide input / feedback on projects and key activities when the project manager is not available; Coordinating logistics for project / stakeholder meetings; Assist Project Managers with event arrangements.

7 Travel arrangements for relevant project managers; Attend to public queries; Ensure continuous professionalism with staff and stakeholders; Cultivate and maintain a good working relationships with key stakeholders, EMPLOYMENT REFERENCE CHECKS Employment reference checks are a requirement of SANRAL and forms part of the recruitment and selection process for all applicants on the shortlist for positions within SANRAL.
