3 Now there is! The NC Fire & Life SAFETY Educators created a committee to develop a curriculum that could be used by firefighters and fire & life SAFETY educators alike. Various contributors from the state have shared ideas or lessons. These lessons are aligned with the NC State Essential standards. They are easy to use by the most novice firefighters and fire & life SAFETY educators as well as the most experienced. The lessons present essential fire SAFETY messages in a consistent way that can meet the needs of North Carolina children & fire prevention teams. Participants will have an opportunity to experience these lessons & information by participating in Townsend is the Fire and Life SAFETY Educator with Pleasant Garden Fire Department since 2012.

4 She has been a volunteer firefighter for 16 years with the department. Under her direction, Pleasant Garden Fire Department implemented a consistent fire SAFETY curriculum to use in elementary schools in the Parker has been in the fire service for thirty-seven years. She began her career as a firefighter with the Raleigh Fire Department and soon discovered her passion for fire and life SAFETY . Serving as the only full-time Fire and Life SAFETY Educator for a large department and municipality, Jan soon came to realize the need for creativity in developing programs that could engage local fire station personnel and provide outreach to the entire community.

The regions elect officers & meet quarterly to discuss regional business, network, share ideas about injury prevention & attend valuable fire & life SAFETY EDUCATION training.

7 This is an interactive class setting with breakouts to help those new to EDUCATION , figure out their potential needs & how to address them. Jeannie Moore has been the Volunteer Public Educator with Mills River Fire & Rescue since 2000. She is an FF/EMT, & was a full-time Radiologic Technologist with Park Ridge Health for 25 years. She serves as Vice-Chair of the Western FLSE & on the NCFLSE State Council. Lewis Garrison serves as Assistant Fire Marshal & has been with Asheville FD since 1991. 9 This exciting & interactive session will assist all technicians in learning about the latest & greatest in this ever-changing field. Participants can get CEU's toward Buchanan has worked with OSFM as an Injury Prevention Specialist for 13 years. A certified Child Passenger SAFETY Instructor since 2001 and member of the National Child Passenger SAFETY Board from 2010-15, Allan was recently honored as North Carolina's 2016 CPS Instructor of the Year, and National CPS Instructor of the Year in 2017. This past November he received the North Carolina Governor's Award of Excellence for his extensive work in Child Passenger July 25 Hannah Thompson-Welch is a Wildfire Mitigation Specialist for the North Carolina Forest Service, covering the 50 eastern NC counties.

10 She works with individuals, communities, municipalities, counties, and regions on reducing wildfire risk every day. Born and raised in Southeastern Kentucky, she completed her Associate of Applied Science in Forest (Management) Technology degree at Hazard Community College. She began her career with the Kentucky Division of Forestry. She has been with the North Carolina Forest Service for 14 years; she worked as a Ranger in Surry, Forsyth, and Wayne Counties and was Outreach Coordinator statewide. Hannah has served nationally as a wildland firefighter assisting fire suppression efforts in Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, and Georgia. She also aided in the relief effort from Hurricanes Katrina, Isabel, Ivan, and Matthew.
