2 Students who achieve CEFR B1 level meet the graduation requirements. Students who do not achieve CEFR B1 do not meet the graduation requirement. Such students should take 4 credits of freshman English and 4 credits of elective English courses organized by Providence University Foreign Language Center before graduation. Students who minor or double major in Department of English Language, Literature, and Linguistics are considered as graduation requirement fulfilled. 3. Students who meet the requirements have to submit the original and a copy of the transcript to Foreign Language Center. Students will be approved after submissions are reviewed. The English certificates which students obtain before enrollment of Providence University are valid within two years from the day students apply.

Students who do not achieve CEFR B1 are allowed to take elective courses of English, starting with their sophomore year, which is regulated below: (1) Students whose test results of English certificates reach CEFR A2 are authorized to take elective courses of English. (2) Students whose test results of English certificates do not achieve CEFR A2. should take the course Basic Ability of English, which students will be authorized to take elective courses of English if the result is marked P . when students pass in current semester, or if the result is marked I when students have failed in consecutive two semesters. (3) Students who acquire English certificate during the course Basic Ability of English can apply for the pass of the course.

4 Students will be marked P . after qualification is reviewed. (4) Students that enrolled in 2012 will be marked X( ) and have their result not considered. If their attending frequency does not meet the requirements, and they are also absent in midterm and final tests. (5) Transfer students, reentered students, and foreign students who do not have English certificates are eligible to register for English proficiency tests organized by PUFLC, from which the results can be used as qualification for elective English courses. 5. More information about elective English courses will be addressed in Online Brochure for Taking Classes updated each semester. 6. Provisions stated above will be implemented after approval by the Senate Meeting.
