GROUNDWATER ADVISORYS odium acifluorfen is known to leach through soil to groundwater undercertain conditions as a result of label use. Use of this chemical in areaswhere soils are permeable (sandy or sandy/loamy soils) and water tablesare shallow could result in contamination of groundwater. Use of irrigat-ed water in such areas will increase the likelihood of groundwater FOR USEIt is a violation of Federal law to use this product in a manner inconsis-tent with its labeling. Do not apply this product in a way that will contactworkers or other people, either directly or through drift. Only handlerswearing PPE may be in the treatment area during application. All applicable directions, restrictions, precautions and Conditions of Sale and Limitation ofWarranty and Liabilityare to be followed. This labeling must be in theuser s possession during USE INFORMATIONU ltra Blazer herbicideis intended for selective postemergence control ofcertain broadleaf weeds and grasses in peanuts, soybeans, strawberries, and rice . Crop Tolerance All listed crops are tolerant to Ultra Blazerat all stages of growth speckling may occur, but plants generally outgrow this condition with-in 10 days. New growth is normal and crop vigor is not reduced. Cleaning Spray Equipment Clean application equipment thoroughly by using a strong detergent orcommercial spray cleaner according to the manufacturer s directions andthen triple rinsing the equipment before and after applying this ResistanceUltra Blazeris a Group 14 herbicide.
6 Any weed population may containor develop plants naturally resistant to Ultra Blazerand other Group 14herbicides. Weed species with acquired resistance to Group 14 may even-tually dominate the weed population if Group 14 herbicides are usedrepeatedly in the same field or in successive years as the primary methodof control for targeted species. This may result in partial or total loss ofcontrol of those species by Ultra Blazeror other Group 14 herbicides. PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT (PPE)Some materials that are chemical-resistant to this product are made ofany waterproof material. 8 It contains requirements for training, decontamination, notifi-cation, and emergency assistance. It also contains specific instructionsand exceptions pertaining to the statements on this label about person-al protective equipment (PPE) and restricted-entry interval. The require-ments in this box only apply to uses of this product that are coveredby the Worker Protection Standard. Do not enter or allow worker entry into treated areas during the restricted-entry interval (REI) of 48 hours. The following PPE is required for early entry into treated areas that ispermitted under the Worker Protection Standard and that involves con-tact with anything that has been treated, such as plants, soil, or water: Coveralls over long-sleeved shirt and long pants Chemical-resistant gloves made of any waterproof material Chemical-resistant footwear plus socks Chemical-resistant headgear if overhead exposure Protective eyewearNotify workers of pesticide application by warning them orally and byposting warning signs at entrances to treated delay herbicide resistance consider: Avoiding the consecutive use of Ultra Blazeror other target site of actionGroup 14 herbicides that have a similar target site of action, on the sameweed species.
9 Using tank-mixtures or premixes with herbicides from different target siteof action Groups as long as the involved products are all registered forthe same use, have different sites of action, and are both effective at thetank mix or prepack rate on the weed(s) of concern. Basing herbicide use on a comprehensive IPM program. Monitoring treated weed populations for loss of field efficacy. The most effective control will result from mak-ing postemergence applications of Ultra Blazer early, when weeds are application to weeds results in improved weed control, allows use ofthe lower rate (depending on weed species), and makes thorough spraycoverage easier to obtain. Delaying application permits weeds to exceedthe maximum size stated and will prevent adequate In irrigated areas, it may be necessary to irrigate before treatment to ensureactive weed growth. Weeds growing under drought conditions usually arenot adequately controlled. Spray Coverage Weeds must be thoroughly covered with spray. Always use an adequatevolume of spray solution to ensure thorough coverage. Dense leaf canopiesshelter smaller weeds and can prevent adequate spray coverage.
