Explanatory notes ford /Mazda have introduced changes to the series 2 variants that may not be immediately apparent to the Hayman Reese installer network and therefore may cause confusion.
2 Whist the towbar may appear the same; the new series vehicles have a different wiring configuration. The Hayman Reese 02848RW/02866RW/02905RW bar will physically fit the new series however the wiring solution is not compatible. The Series II body control module is configured differently. In certain circumstances, the electrical load of the connected trailer wiring may cause a fault code to be logged in the body control module. After a number of drive cycles with re-occurring fault codes in the body control module, a dashboard warning light may be illuminated.
3 The end-consumer may require ongoing visits to the dealership to reset the dashboard warning light and clear the body control module fault codes. Indicator issues may be immediately evident on the utility (tub) variant whilst in operation under normal to higher electrical load conditions. The Hayman Reese fitment for a ford Ranger PX series 2 has a vehicle specific wiring harness and now requires a waterproof ECU (P/N 04835) to avoid generating fault codes with the body control module. Hayman Reese does not recommend the fitting of 02848RW/02866RW/02905RW towbars to the Ranger PX series II or BT50 UR (series II) vehicles.
