1 Foss Avenue Baptist Church Pastoral Position Description The Senior Pastor provides spiritual, administrative, member-care, community outreach, and servant- leadership to the congregation and within the community. One of the primary ministry tasks of the Senior Pastor is to equip the congregation to fulfill its vision and mission. The Pastor will collaborate with Church leaders to cultivate and grow the Church ministries to include FABC ministries, families, seniors, young adults, and children. The Pastor relates and connects with multiple generations. In addition, the pastor represents FABC in denominational and/or community- wide events and activities to provide leadership, encouragement, moral support, and spiritual guidance within the larger community. Recognizing the importance of spiritual health and one's personal relationship with God, the Pastor takes time for regular prayer, bible study, rest, and recreation.

2 Lastly, the Pastor extends God's grace to others and leads by example as one who is relational, authentic, transparent, and humble. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23). Pastoral Duties and Primary Functions Worship Leader (Psalm 122:1-3). I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the LORD. 2 Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O. Lead Sunday morning worship that enables people to hear the word of God and participate in personal and corporate devotion and relationship with God Prepare/deliver sermons that help congregants develop spiritually and relate faith and scripture to life Prepare and plan with Music ministry all elements of regular worship services of the Church Prepare and lead communion service once a month or as needed Prepare and lead all special worship events of the Church , as well as weddings and funerals Encourage congregants to discern their own spiritual gifts, develop their gifts and their own leadership abilities, and engage in the ministries to which they are called Pastoral Care (James 5:14-20).

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. (Psalm 78:72) So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart and guided them by the skillfulness of his hand.. Visit, or assign a Church leader to visit, and/or contact Church members to encourage their involvement or to address their personal needs (especially the sick and homebound Church members). 1. Provide pastoral care in conjunction with staff, ministries, committees, and deacons through visitation, counseling, and prayer Make appropriate referrals when necessary and quickly respond to crisis situations which arise in the congregation ministry Equipper & Outreach Organizer (Ephesians 4:11-12).

4 11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry , for building up the body of Christ. Equip Church leaders and members to identify their spiritual gifts and use those gifts to fulfill the work of the ministry and edify the Church Engage new visitors and encourage them to take an active role in the Church Coordinate efforts in managing, evaluating, and expanding outreach and evangelism programs. Provide training opportunities to the congregation for outreach Collaborate with ministry leaders to develop and build a children's and youth ministry Partner with the Foss Avenue neighborhood Block Club and neighborhood-level organizations to impact the community Administration (Acts 20:28).

5 28 Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the Church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.. Oversee all areas of the congregation's ministry in partnership with the Deacons, Trustees, and Church ministries. Serve as ex-officio officer of all Church ministries Supervise, manage, and provide input for the evaluation of Church employees in conjunction with Deacon and Trustee ministry designates. Facilitate Church life conferences Enable Deacons, Trustees, Church Officers, and ministry Chairs to better perform their duties through training and support Supervise Church staff and collaborate with Church leaders to ensure facilities of the Church are functional and in good repair Minimum Qualifications (I Timothy 3:1-13). Must be a licensed and ordained minister of the Gospel.

6 Have a minimum of 5 consecutive years of pastoral experience as a senior or assistant/associate pastor, a seminary degree, and/or leadership experience. Possess a solid understanding of Christian Doctrine and Theology. Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Professional ability to plan and prioritize tasks, demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, and be able to keep personal member information confidential. Have a compassionate Shepherd's Heart and the ability and desire to communicate with and provide counseling for members of diverse backgrounds and various ages. Should be accessible to members of the congregation and maintain good communication with members of the Church staff and Church 's leadership team. 2. Personality Characteristics/Experiences/Competencies : Integrity, honesty, fair, dedicated, communicator, encourager, Christ-like character, and an ability to relate to others.

7 Experience in ministering to seniors, youth, and children, especially in developing cross-generational ministries and attracting youth. Ability to lead, labor and love the congregation through outreach, teaching and application of Biblical principles.
