Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Fred A. Heyde of St. Joseph, a nephew, George E. Hayett of Kansas City, Six great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. For the last few years she has been very close to her next door neighbors, Mr. and Mrs.

Adams was found in a dazed condition by her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Earl Lawson. Neither Mr. Adams nor Mrs. Adams had been in very good health and Mr. Lawson tried to

2 Ralph Frederick and children. Mrs. Abell, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Ella May Butler, was born January 31, 1883, in Stanberry, where she resided until she married C. M. Pierce, a dispatcher here for the Wabash railroad. She and Mr. Pierce later lived in Canada, Old Mexico and made five years' proof on 320 acres of land four miles from Nara Visa, NM. After having been a widow for six years, she married Wilbur L. Abell in January 1920. they lived on the Abell farm near Stanberry until his health failed in 1934 and they moved to their home in Stanberry. Mr. Abell preceded her in death in 1936. 3 L. Abell Died Here Saturday: Well Known Stanberry Citizen Died at His Home Here Saturday, Following Four Strokes of Paralysis: W. L. Abell, well known Stanberry citizen, died at his home here at 8:26 o'clock Saturday night. His death came rapidly after he had sustained four strokes of paralysis last Wednesday. Mr. Abell had been in failing health for the past 2 1/2 years. Mr. and Mrs. Abell moved from their farm, southeast of Stanberry, to town one year ago last April. They had continued to live here, but Mr. Abell's health did not improve. Following the strokes last Wednesday, he lapsed into unconsciousness lst Thursday morning at 5 o'clock and remained in a state of coma until his death. The following obituary has been furnished this office: Wilbert L. Abell, son of Homer and Cynthia Ann Abell, was born near St. Joseph, Mo., January 14, 1873, and died at his home in Stanberry, Mo., June 13, 1936, at the age of 63 years, four months and 29 days.

4 When less than a year old, he moved with his parents to Colorado, where he spent his boyhood and young manhood days. Afterwards he moved to California, where he resided for 17 years, with the exception of three years spent in Alaska. Gentry County Missouri obituaries , File in progressWhile in California, Mr. Abell was employed in a saw mill camp in the wonderful redwood district. He followed this occupation until his return to Missouri in 1911. Mr. Abell was married twice. His first wife was Mrs. Nora Cogdill Abell, with whom he was united in marriage in 1911. They lived together for four years, until her death in May, 1915. He was united in marriage in January, 1920, with Mrs. Theo Butler Pierce, who survives him. Besides his faithful wife there are left to mourn his departure, his aged mother, Mrs. Cynthia Ann Abell, of Buhl, Idaho; one sister, Mrs. Mary McPherron, of Buhl, Idaho; an aunt, Mrs. Frances Pettepier, of St.

5 Joseph; an uncle, H. E. Harrington, of St. Joseph; two nieces, Mrs. Frances Whitby, of Berkeley, Calif., and Mrs. Nora McPherron of Twin Falls, Idaho. There are also other relatives and a host of friends. On account of failing health, Mr. and Mrs. Abell moved from the country to Stanberry a year ago last April. Early in life, he united with the Christian church. In January, of this year, he united with the Baptist church of Stanberry. He was always deeply interested in all of the affairs of the church and was much loved by his pastor, the members and even the children of the congregation. We shall miss him from the services but we believe that he has entered into that heavenly home, where there is no sorrow, no sickness,no disease, no death, the Rev. Bolton said. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Baptist church, conducted by the Rev. B. V. Bolton, pastor of the church and interment was in the High Ridge cemetery.

All rights reserved: Don Raymond The Tri- County News, Friday, July 20, 1990, page 4: A. J. adams , 66, Stanberry, died July 13, 1990 at an Albany hospital, following a brief illness. Mr. adams was born in King City and had been a resident of Stanberry where he was foreman of the former Stanberry Cap Factory for 20 years. He was a veteran of World War II. Mr. adams was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, and three brothers, Bod, Wilbur and James (Jake) adams . Survivors are two sisters, Mary Fletcher and Veda Sollars, both of St. Joseph; four nieces and two Nephews. Graveside services and burial were held on July 16 at High Ridge Cemetery at Stanberry with flag-folding ceremonies by King City American Legion Post No. 132. Service arrangements were under the direction of Bram-Clark Funeral Home in King City.

All rights reserved: Don Raymond The Stanberry Headlight, Gentry County Missouri , Thursday, February 3, 1972, front page: Harry adams Is Found Dead in His Stanberry Home: Well Known Stanberry Citizen Is Found Dead and Mrs. adams Found in Dazed Condition - Harry L. adams , 79, a well known Stanberry citizen, was found dead at his home at about 5:20 oclock last Saturday afternoon and Mrs. Gentry County Missouri obituaries , File in progressAdams was found in a dazed condition by her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Earl Lawson. Neither Mr. adams nor Mrs. adams had been in very good health and Mr. Lawson tried to visit them each day. He had gone to the adams home about 5 o'clock last Saturday afternoon. He could not rouse anyone and the doors were locked. Lewis Messner had a key to the garage at the home and Mr. and Mrs. Lawson entered the garage, then broke the screen door to enter the house.

8 Both Mr. and Mrs. adams were in their night clothes, Mr. adams in the hall of their home and Mrs. adams in the living room. Dr. A. L. Carlin was called at once. It was his opinion that Mr. adams had been dead for several hours. Mrs. adams was taken in the community ambulance to the Gentry County Memorial hospital at Albany. It is believed she may have suffered a light stroke. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel for Mr. adams . The rites were conducted by the Rev. George Meyer, pastor of the Stanberry United Methodist church, and burial was in High Ridge Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eula Lawson adams , of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Alma Lovett, Rolla, Mo., and Mrs. Paul Hutton of Columbus, Ohio; a stepson, Charles Lawson of Stanberry; and two step grandchildren. He also is survived by three nieces, Mrs. Velma adams Yeager of Agency, Ia., Mrs. Helen Hutton Beach of Columbus, Ohio, and Mrs.

9 Harriet Love Beach of Bay Village, Ohio. Mr. adams , son of the late John Scott and Sarah Frances Compton adams , was born August 10, 1892, on a farm near Stanberry. He was educated in schools in this community and as a young man joined the Pattonsburg Methodist church. He and the former Miss Ruth Jane Cameron were united in marriage February 25, 1919, in Kansas City, Mo., and spent their married life in this community. She preceded him in death May 25, 1968. He and Mrs. Lawson were married March 10, 1969, and continued to make their home here. For many, many years, Mr. adams , a master plumber, was associated with the Big 4 Hardware firm here. Before his retirement approximately 18 years ago, he was happy to teach many young men his trade. In his younger days, Mr. adams was exceedingly interested in civic and community affairs in Stanberry and served as mayor of this city for four terms in the late 30's and early 40's.

S. adams had died that morning. He had been in his usual health up to a short time of his death. His death was caused by heart failure. The funeral was held at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon, at 2:30, conducted by Revs. Sturges and Barnum, and the remains were laid to rest at High Ridge cemetery. He was widely known and loved by all who knew him, and his sudden death will be mourned by many.
