1 1 Gospel john Chapter 3 -- john KarmelichThis week s (New King James Version)3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the this man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You are a teachercome from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him."3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, hecannot see the kingdom of God."4 Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a secondtime into his mother's womb and be born?

2 "5 Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit,he cannot enter the kingdom of "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is "Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'8 "The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where itcomes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit."9 Nicodemus answered and said to Him, "How can these things be?"10 Jesus answered and said to him, "Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know thesethings?

3 11 "Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen,and you do not receive Our "If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tellyou heavenly things?13 "No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son ofMan who is in "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man belifted up,15 "that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believesin Him should not perish but have everlasting "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world.

4 But that the worldthrough Him might be "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemnedalready, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loveddarkness rather than light, because their deeds were "For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deedsshould be "But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, thatthey have been done in God.

Therefore this joy of mineis "He must increase, but I must "He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth is earthly and speaks ofthe earth. He who comes from heaven is above "And what He has seen and heard, that He testifies; and no one receives His "He who has received His testimony has certified that God is "For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit "The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Sonshall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.

In Last week s lesson, we had the first miracle in the Gospel of Johna) this was the conversion of Water to Wineb) this week s lesson is also about ) It is about the necessity of ) In Chapter 3, the key word in this chapteri) Is the Word MUSTii) In most of the translations, the word Must is used three timesiii) In Verse 7, Jesus says You Must be Born-Againiv) In Verse 14, Jesus says The Son of Man Must be lifted Up v) And in Verse 30, john the Baptist saysa) I Must Decrease andb) He (being Jesus) Must Increasevi)

8 There s the Gospel and our role as Christians in 3 simple statements:a) We must be born-again to achieve salvationb) Jesus must be lifted-up to pay for our sinsc) And We must Glorify Jesus and De-Glorify Ourselves(1) Jesus must increase, and we must decrease!2. Remember the question I keep imposing What is the Purpose of the Gospel of Johna) The Gospel of john focuses on Who Jesus isb) The Purpose of the Gospel is stated near the end of this Gospeli) but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son ofGod, and that believing you may have life in His name.

9 ( john 20:31 NKJV)ii) john wrote only about specific miraclesa) john included only specific discourses about Jesusb) john picked just certain events to talk about Jesusc) Why? (Repeat Why?)d) Why is it so important to know Who Jesus Is?e) Why was john so obsessed with proving who Jesus is?f) Part of the answer is that Our Lives depend upon it!g) Entrance into Heaven is EXCLUSIVE(1) Jesus said that "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No onecomes to the Father except through Me. ( john 14:6)(2) this claim can only be true(a) If Jesus is who he says he is(b) Therefore we must be born-again(3) Jesus had to literally pay the price for our sins(a) Therefore Jesus must be lifted-uph) If we believe, our natural response is to want to show our gratitude(a) Therefore He must increase, and We must decrease3.
