Policies for Coast Guard Auxiliary units submitting applications for grants requiring Non-Profit Organization - 501(c) 3 status. Flotillas/Divisions/Districts should submit their requests directly to the grantor, unless otherwise stated. They should fill in everything but state the recipient is the Coast Guard Auxiliary Association, Inc. for the benefit of the unit applying for the Grant . A draft of the application should be sent to the Director of Development of the Association for review and ultimately an authorized signature. The Association's Director of Development, CGAuxA, Inc. will sign as the Authorized representative.

2 Upon completion of the application and its return to the grantor, the grantor should issue the check to the Association covering all Grant monies that are approved and send it with copies of the approved Grant agreements to: Coast Guard Auxiliary Association, Inc. 9449 Watson Industrial Park St. Louis,MO 63126. The Association will use that information to distribute the funds accordingly. A cover letter will also be sent to the recipients reminding them to fulfill the requirements in the agreement, which include providing a copy of their reports to the grantor and to the Association for filing with the Grant agreement. The Grant 's total amount will be forwarded to the designated unit by the Association in accordance with the Grant 's provisions. WALMART COMMUNITY grants .

3 Walmart Grant Procedures Walmart has National, State and Local opportunities to issue grants . Requests for grants to Walmart should fit into the categories of interest that Walmart specifies. 1. A flotilla wanting to apply sends an email to requesting use of the Association's EIN for the application. The Director of Development tracks all requests. 2. The check should be payable to the Coast Guard Auxiliary Association, Inc. The local flotilla commander should be designated as the flotilla's point of contact. The Applicant is the Association on behalf of the local unit, as the Walmart web site says that only 501 (c) (3) organizations are eligible to apply. 3. Should the local unit receive the check from the local Grant issuing Walmart, the flotilla commander shall send the check to the Association and include the Flotilla Staff Officer-Finance's name/address.

4 4. The Association will issue a check to the flotilla in the amount of the Grant . 5. An acknowledgement is sent to Walmart by the Association to recognize the Grant in support of the local flotilla. BOATUS FOUNDATION. Combined Boating Safety and Clean Water grants Sign up for the E-Newsletter to keep up to date with developments and deadlines. Deadlines usually run November to January 15. The Foundation is looking for creative and innovative projects that promote safe and clean boating on your local waterway. The Foundation Awards non-profit organizations up to $10,000 for the promotion of safe and clean water boating education. The applicant must indicate the Coast Guard Auxiliary Association as the non-profit organization. Over the past 20 years the Foundation has awarded over $1 Million to local community organizations, yacht clubs, flotillas and squadrons.

5 A Review Committee chooses the best projects and those are posted on the BoatUS. web site. A summary of the project can be viewed on line and solicits votes. Applicants should promote their project to the Auxiliary membership, community and local media and encourage voting. Projects with the most votes will be funded. NATIONAL SAFE BOATING COUNCIL. OMC Take Em Boating Grant Program Deadline for submissions: 1 October to 31 December The Outboard Marine Corporation (OMC) Take 'Em Boating Grant is offered as a means to promote and develop interest in boating for future generations. The winning program must promote the future of the marine industry through environmental education and safety awareness, embracing all aspects of recreational boating, and be aimed at youths ages 6-18.

6 Furthermore, the program should reflect the benefits of getting out on the water in boats, showing young people that exercise and fresh air is a great life style. The Grant program is a single cash award of up to $5000 for environmental education and safety awareness programs. U. S. COAST GUARD. Coast Guard Non-Profit Grant Program: Only a National Non-Profit Organization may apply, and the project must be National in scope. Application packages can be viewed at the web site below, usually in October. The deadline for submissions is usually in January. National Directorates with ideas for such a Grant should outline their ideas and submit through their leadership chain for review by the National Executive Committee. If the idea is accepted, an action officer will be designated to write the Grant and become the official representative.

7 There are many aspects to the application. Addressing objectives in the National RBS Strategic Plan, including measurements of success, a complete financial plan, detailed descriptions of the project's work, bio's on the principal project officers, and relationships with other organizations that might be involved. Sometimes favor is given to organizations that are collaborating on a project. In addition, it will match the list of Coast Guard requests for Grant proposals, short and long term accomplishments, can the project be completed in one year, or is it a multi-year endeavor - which is acceptable (National Safe Boating Week), and the list goes on. Each year the Coast Guard Awards several grants to Non-Profit organizations. Details of this program can be seen at: Grant Application Information The Coast Guard has published a new Grant solicitation for the national recreational boating safety program.

8 The Grant is for national nonprofit organizations to assist the Coast Guard in reducing the number of accidents, injuries and deaths on America's waterways and provide a safer and more enjoyable experience for the boating public. The solicitation can be found in , where applications will be accepted (whichever date applies). The total estimated funding available is approximately $ million. NATIONAL WATER SAFETY CONGRESS. Awards There are various levels of Awards available from the NWSC. http://. The National Water Safety Congress has an extensive award program to recognize those people who contribute to the safety of everyone who enjoys water recreation. Each year the National Water Safety Congress (NWSC) presents Awards at the annual International Boating and Water Safety Summit to selected individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to water safety during the previous year. Recognition of those who contribute substantially to water safety is encouraged to further promote water and boating safety, helping to reduce the number of drowning and boating accidents now occurring each year.

10 Please research your area and nominate the most deserving individual or group for one of the Awards . NWSC's extensive award program recognizes the contributions of the many water safety professionals and dedicated volunteers.
