3 INTRODUCTION As a part of on-going exa mination reforms, the Board has initiated se ries of measu res related to strengthening of school education and alig ning the assessment practice s with international st andards. One such measure relates to conduct of Profici ency Test at the end of Class-X in all the five main subject s. The Proficiency Test would be conducted by Special Exams & CTET Unit, Central Board of Secondary Education, PS 1-2, Institutional Area, I P Extension, Patparganj, Delhi - 110092 as per the follo wing schedule: Day Date Subject Timings (As per Indian StandardTime) Marks Monday English to 100 Tuesday Hindi to 100 Wednesday Mathematics to 100 Thursday Social Science to 100 Friday Science to 100 The Profici ency Test would be a OMR Answer Sheet based Paper Pen Test consist ing of objective type quest ions as per the GUIDELINES available on website.
4 I n each Paper, questions will be multiple choice type. A student will be required to mark the answers in a given OMR sheet with Blue/Black Ball Point Pen only. Negative marks will be awarded for wrong answers in different subjects as per the general GUIDELINES and sa mple questions for Profici ency Test availa ble on CBSE website in. 2. PREPARATORY STAGE The CBSE would send the CENTRE material to each examination CENTRE fixed for the conduct of Profici ency Test. Some of the proformas/ st ationery used by the CENTRE would also be hosted on CBSE si te with a vi ew that in case of additional requirement, the sa me may be downloaded and utilized by the CENTRE .
5 It may be ensured that instructions given in the GUIDELINES are follo wed each day of examination. APPOINTMENT OF STAFF, SEATING ARRANGEMENTS AND PROVISION OF OTHER ESSENTIAL FACILITIES The CENTRE superintendent is expected to make the following essential arrangements at the examination CENTRE : - A well protect ed room for storage of confidential material. (a) A Godrej/other str ong almirah with keys in duplicate to be used by the CENTRE superintendent for confidential material. (b) Facsimile Signature stamps of CENTRE Supdt. in adequate number be got prepared in advance to be put on Test Booklets. These be kept in the safe custody of CENTRE Supdt.
6 Only to avoid any misuse. (c) Sufficient No. of brown pulp boards(sample enclosed), are purchased in advance. To appoint following st aff for conduct of exa mination as per norms given below: CATEGORY OF STAFF NORMS ELIGIBILITY Deputy superintendent (s) 250 or more candidates - One Should be from among the Sr. PGTs or Vice Principal of the CENTRE School Invigilator(s) One for every 24 candidates in a hall and two Invigila tor(s) in every room. Should be from among the teaching staff of the CENTRE School or fr om other recognized schools. Clerk(s) One for each CENTRE Should be from among the clerical st aff of the CENTRE School.
7 Class IV Employees Upto 24 candidates - One 25 to 100 candidates - Two 101 to 400 candidates Three Above 401 candidates - Four Should be from among the Class IV st aff of the CENTRE School. The st aff should be appointed strict ly as per above norms and they should be assigned specific duties. Specific instruct ions for cl ass IV st aff indica ting their place of duty for offering drinki ng water should be given. Persons whose near relation is appearing at the examination should not be appointed for examination duty. The Board is ve ry keen that exa mination is conducted smoothly and effici ently. The standard of effici ency and precisi on with which the examinations are co nducted will ensure fair and smooth conduct of examination.
8 It may be ensured that in the process of conduct of examination, nothing should be left to chance. A day before the co mmencement of examination, the CENTRE superintendent may call the Deputy superintendent (s) , a few Invi gila tor(s) (not more than 50% of the total requirement), Clerk( s) and Class- IV Staff to prepare seating plan of the exa mination hall/rooms showing number of seats/ candidates allo tted in each room/hall as per Appendix-B. The main objective of the seating plan is that a candidate fi nds his/ her seat without any difficulty and candidate si tti ng cl ose by does not get the Test Booklet of the sa me code.
9 The CENTRE superintendent shall ensure that arrangement of tables/chairs adequate for the number of the candidates allo tted at the CENTRE . He/ She shall particularly se e that seating arrangement is comfortable and there is no scope to tempt the candidates to use unfair means during exa mination. There should be adequate space between seats of two candidates. If the candidates are seated together on a large bench, it may be ensured that they are not given/supplied the Test Booklets bearing the same Code No. For sample seating plan, please refer to Appendix-B. The Roll Number of the candidate be marked vi si bly on the table/desk.
10 Roll Number chart be past ed in each room/hall showing the allotment of candidates in that room/hall. The CENTRE superintendent must display the following information: (a) A consolidated chart of candidates indicating Roll Numbers From To and room number in the room of CENTRE superintendent and also on inner compound wall of the school. (b) Instructions to the effect that: (i) Candidates should use only Blue/Black Ball Point Pen for filling up the particulars on Test Bookl et, Side-1 and Side-2 of the Answer Sheet and Attendance Sheet. (ii) Candidates should go through the INSTRUCTIONS FOR MARKING on SIDE-2 given on SIDE-1 of the Answer Sheet.
