Reliance onthese GUIDELINES alone will not necessarily be sufficient in performing the duties of a guardian adlitem, since they do not address all issues and problems confronting a guardian ad LITEM . Emphasishas also been placed on jurisdictional, procedural, and substantive problems encountered inproceedings affecting each class of persons in the category of a person under disability.

10 If a guardianad LITEM is unsure of the extent of the representation that is expected or appropriate, guidance fromthe court should be desiring to be considered for appointments by the courts as GUARDIANS ad litemshould, inter alia, apply to the Office of Court Administration to be placed on a list of potentialappointees maintained by the Chief Administrator of the Courts and made available for use bythe appointing judge in making such appointment. Refer to Appendix Schedule A for Part 36 ofthe Rules of the Chief Judge for Appointment of Fiduciaries. In most instances the prospectiveappointee whose appointment is subject to the Rules of the Chief Judge must certify (Certification of Compliance) in writing to the appointing judge, prior to the acceptance of theappointment, that the appointment will not be in violation of those Rules.
